Governor calls for investigation into Schiavo case
TALLAHASSEE, Florida (AP) -- Governor Jeb Bush says even though he asked a prosecutor to investigate why Terri Schiavo collapsed 15 years ago, he isn't suggesting any wrongdoing by her husband.
Bush asked Pinellas-Pasco County State Attorney Bernie McCabe to investigate an alleged gap in time between when her husband found her and called 911 in February 1990. Bush says the prosecutor has agreed to look over the case.
Terri Schiavo died March 31st from dehydration after her feeding tube was removed.
Her brother Bobby Schindler says his family believes more questions were raised than answered by an autopsy report and that a new legal review is appropriate. Her autopsy concluded that she had been in a persistent vegetative state and revealed no evidence that she was strangled or abused before she collapsed.
It left unanswered the question of why Terri Schiavo's heart stopped, cutting oxygen off from her brain.
