My fiance's Uncle plays in this band, and they are fucking ace. Bluegrass amongst other similar styles.

For some classic stuff:
Ralph Stanely
John Hartford :rock
Earl Taylor
Flatt and Scruggs
Nitty Gritty Dirt band
Clarence "Tater" Tate
Bill Monroe
Don Reno
Log Cabin Boys
Old and in the Way
Newer stuff I suggest David Grisman quintet(even though there more acoustic jazz than bluegrass), Steve Earle and the Bluegrass Dukes and the Yonder Mountain String Band.
If you dig Del McCoury, I would suggest getting the "the Mountain". It's the album where they collabrate with Steve Earle and it is fucking tits.

the first band i ever sang with was a bluegrass band. i sang songs like "rocky top" and wore things like a red gingham pleated dress. i was eleven. :(

What would you call CCR or CSN? I like them alot and I think they may be bluegrass, but what do I know...

CCR and CSN couldnt be further from bluegrass
my mom used to play fiddle in a bluegrass band with her boyfriend who was a banjo virtuoso. this was about a few years before i was born
i suggest:
Anything David Grisman was in ( Old and In The Way )
Bela Fleck & The Flecktones
Nitty Gritty Dirt Band

i agree with you on the ccr and csn, but i don't consider ngdb or bela fleck bluegrass, either.
what about union station (with jerry douglas and alison krauss), tony rice (who lives very near me; i've played and recorded music with his cousin and interviewed his mom for a newspaper article!), the seldom scene, and ricky skaggs?
