Honestly, I was up to 6am trying to beat Shao Kahn. And that was on novice mode. I was totally kicking his arse with Sektor's rockets and teleport upppercut moves but even if you beat him once he goes apeshit the next round and wins in about 10 seconds.

I remember being really dissapointed when going from 2 to 3. Bad characters, not as tight graphics and... babality? I played 3 for 10 minutes and even as a 15 year old I wasn't impressed.

Is this the first one in 3D, or was it Mortal Kombat 4?

Mortal Kombat 4 was the first one in 3d and it somehow managed to suck harder than 3.

3 is the one that has Street Fighter: The Movie Arcade Game graphics and shitty hyperspeed combos that only the computer can seem to pull off.

Maybe I just sucked at it or something.

No, it really was harder than normal. But shao kahn is easy in ULTIMATE MK3. Just use rain's lightning, uppercut, lightning, uppercut...repeat as needed.

Yeah, but it had Cyrax. +1 for Cyrax.

I've always hated Mortal Kombat. The new one wasn't bad, but in the old ones it was way too easy to use Sub-Zero and just Freeze > Uppercut > Freeze > Uppercut.

Anyone else play MK: Mythologies? I liked it. :(

Best character is Noob Saibot >:

I kinda figured this after losing a bajillion times when I first got it. They somehow made it, so if you choose the lower difficulties, it's harder than the harder difficulties... yeah.

haha I just realized that the character is named noob saibot. heh

Anyway, MK1 and 2 were fresh back in the day, and the presentation and character selection on 2 was top notch. The graphics weren't just captures, they were extensively cleaned up and pixelled over and the backgrounds were good an eerie. I liked it a lot, and reptile was neat and the first playable 'extra ninja' in the series which made him cool. Well I think there was smoke too, but I never played against him.
