I'd have to say the third one, the whole movies great. Freddy saying "what a rush," after killing off the junkie girl never fails to make me chuckle and the giant clay worm version of Freddy never fails to impress me.

No he's not, actually. I considered it too but...Apparently, craven was thinking about the most horrible thing an adult could do, and he thought of that, and was gonna give freddy a history of child molesting, but it was just too wrong and they scrapped it. Can't remember where I read that but pretty damn sure it came from craven himself.

Edit: But yeah, it's supposed to be phallic. In one of the parts of the bonus dvd in the NOES box set they mention how it was original pinker, but changed it cause it was too obvious.

When I saw this tread I was gonna say that 2 and 5 are the most ridiculous ones. Especially 2, that part where the kid is dancing in his room is too funny. Also your right that Freddy is not a molester but a child "murderer"... they state very cleary in mostly all of the movies.

I also like Wes Craven's New Nightmare cause it's kind of different from the rest of the films and definitely not as out of control.

Two isn't as bad as everyone makes it out to be, it's just so ridiculous it's hilarious. New Nightmare is very overated and tries to be something that it's not. Five's just terrible.

It's overrated by Elm Street fans at any rate. Go look on imdb.com and see what it's rating is compared to the other Elm Street movies or read any review of the movie on a fan site.
