Re-deads/gibdos in Orcarina of Time, mainly because I could never get the damn things off of me before I lost all of my health, so every time I met one there was a good chance of instant death. :(

And as much as I hate to say it, Jenova and lots of other stuff from FF7 scared me. (But come on. IT WAS MISSING IT'S FUCKING HEAD :()

When you first see Jenova in that container cell and when you see that mutant in the freezer in FF7 scared teh shit out of me when I was like 13.

Otherwise I guess the entire game of Silent Hill 2 would be my cadidate :x

I actually had to stop playing Fatal Frame 2. I was playing through my computer speakers and wearing headphones, and I couldn't keep going. I reached the first boss and I was fucking out. It was nuts.

It doesn't really say much more that I never played it after that. Boring gameplay.

The hunchbacked, leatherface girl from the remake of resident evil scared the shit out of me. Also, the merry go round in Silent Hill 3, it didn't really scare me, it was just creepy.

The Prison in SH2. Especially the cellblock where you can hear some monster breathing heavily and walking, but you don't see it.

these fuckers in blood

seriously, these guys freaked me out, mainly as the game designers chose to have them leap at you from above or from around corners and such.

i see some, i usualy chuck about 3 TNTs to make sure i killed them all

Fatal Frame, wasn't even gameplay. Had it pauses, waiting for my friend to come back. I look away for like 2 seconds and when I look back theres bloody handprints.

The haunted house in SH3. I knew something was gonna try to kill me at some point, but I had no idea what it was.

I was praying Valtiel would've came out after Bobby (the hung kid?) dropped out of the ceiling. Like, you'd walk to the opposite door and Val would just come out and chase your ass.

I was right though, that red fog stuff definitely tried to kill me :(

In Timesplitters: Future Perfect, in the zombie level, there is a room you go in and walk up too a cabnet and a zombie busts out. It scared me like 5 times but i finally got use to it.

Friday the 13th for the NES.

Being in the single digit age range, turning the corner in a large cabin and hearing "WHOOSH" and of course the oh-so-ominous music... then getting killed.

Scared the bejesus out of me multiple times.

When the game just came out Parasite Eve, the scene with the rat mutating, it scared me at first but then it was just plain cool.

Anything involving Underwater equences, i.e. Morrowind (ultill you get used to the whopping 3 water based enemies)

Echo the Dolphin (DreamCast)

Anywhere on RE3 where Nemesis was involved. He was so goddamn invincible.

Any resident evil game, where you walk through a hallway, and you know, JUST KNOW, that when you walk back through, all those dead bodies you had just seen will be up, and things will be bursting through the wall.

Yeah and the zombies in the Resident evil remake can actually break doors down, that scared the crap out of me the first time it happened.

I have no idea why, but as a kid, dying in Zelda II just made me go numb in fear.

Also, while playing the Doom III leak, everything was pretty much out of sight, so I decided to whip out the flashlight and look around. When I do, I instantly see a sillouhette of that giant demon. He wasn't even in there, just his shadow. Peed a little.

Resident Evil two, where you're walking down the hallway, and a bunch of arms just break through grabbing you.

the_dudefather
Oct 9th, 2005, 07:54 AM
the arm thing in resident evil 2 diddnt scare me the first time but the SECOND time, as i thought it wouldnt happen twice :P

When you complete resident evil 2 with both clair and leon then you do the third campaign, where nemisis stalks you. He would randomly burst through walls all the time. It was scary stuff :chatter

Ahem, Tyrant Seeker. Tyrant Seekers i.e. Nemisis, The tyrant on the plane in Code veronica and the Mr.X from RE2 are all built only for specific tasks. I say built because none of them carry the onriginal T-Virus, they are each surgically bult then injected with a very mutated version of T. More info on the creation of Tyrants is on Survivor.

He has a shitload of different names. I used the novel name because most people use that one.

Pretty much the first 45 minutes of the Marune campaign in AvP2 when it first came out and the graphics were considered awesome.

Random encounters in FF3 when I was little, for some reason every time they started I jumped.

Those hound things with all the eyes from Half-Life. I'm not sure what they actually do to hurt you, but that noise they make before they attack always scared the hell out of me. :(

The hands in blood used to scare the shit out of me along with the spiders. So much so that when I played it as a kid I sat indian legged on my computer chair. I still do that out of habit.

The part in RE2 when you're just waitin' for something to come through the two way mirror and it finally does.

Walking around "dark silent hill" and hearing your radio go apeshit but not seeing any monsters at first in SH2.

the_dudefather
Oct 10th, 2005, 07:11 PM
theres a bit in blood where you can climb an elevator shaft by jumping up some outcrops, jumped to the top, saw a large nest of spiders, paniced, fell to death.

damn you spiders!!

In the first Silent hill, i was playing at the age of 7-8, and with my dad. We got to the school, and i got freaked from the music, so my dad let me turn the sound off. but if you remeber, for the piano puzzle,.......ITS ALL ABOUT HAVING YOUR SOUND ON!!!!!! so we sat there for about an hour trying to figure out if there was a pattern, saying incredibly stupid things like, "well maybe the swan went through some black tar?"

Friking sound puzzles.....*sigh*

The fight with Psycho Mantis in MGS 1 freaked me out when the game system "turned off". There's a part in the back of your brain that knows it was scripted because the part of your screen that normally says "video" in digital green letters now says "Hideo", but you're mostly hust confused with hairs standing up on the back of your neck. A genius moment in gaming.

Also, the Arsenal Gear section in MGS II was scary in its own way, as, at two am, slightly drunk, and with the lights out, it really feels like the world around you has turned into a giant computerized lie.

Mantis's Face in Twin snakes, it was sespecially icky.

In Resident Evil 3, after you hear Carlos on the radio in the RPD building then go downstairs. then out of fucking nowhere BOOM! Nemisis comes crashing through the fucking window with a rocket launcher.

Resident Evil 4: Everything I have done so far, which isn't much.

Zelda: Ocarina of Time: Re-Deads and Wall Masters. Those fuckers scared the crap outta me.

Silent Hill 2: The music. For some goddamned reason, the music creeps me out.

Fatal Frame: The slow, sludgy, very Japanese pace to the game. Very similar to The Grudge, which scared me, too.

Oct 17th, 2005, 12:25 AM
Huh, my scary moments aren't really from scary games :/

Chrono Trigger: The part where the leg-eating machine eats Lara's legs. I sucked at that part when I was little 'cause I would freak out, "NO DAMN YOU LEG EATING MACHINE! AIEEEE!"

FFVI: Terra's scream. It just kinda... gave me the heebie jeebies.

Castlevania something: The giant ball of naked people was really creepy.

And the damn axe-wielding babies from Zombies Ate My Neighbors.

Castlevania something: The giant ball of naked people was really creepy.

HOLY SHIT, i remember that, i got killed by it and stopped playing for a week cuz i was so freaked out.

the part in MGS where mantis reads your memory card. I rented metal gear solid a bit after i bought Castlevania. And hearing mantis go, "SOOO YOU LIKE CASTLEVANIA?" completely freaked me out.

I didnt get the same effect playing twin snakes, "SOOO YOU LIKE SUPER MARIO SUNSHINE?"

also, any part in siren where you sightjack the monsters and you see yourself standing there with your eyes closed.

FFVI: Terra's scream. It just kinda... gave me the heebie jeebies.
That's just the sound the air around her makes because she's flying really fast. :rolleyes

Anyway the first few times scizzorman stalks you in Clock Tower were pretty creepy, mostly because you hear the snipping on his giant scizzors long before you ever see him. Then five minutes later you beat the game >:

when i was alittle younger playing Fallout 2, a random encounter had me enter a time warp portal into the Vault 13 in Fallout 1.

After roaming around the empty and quiet vault , I fucked around with something, (must've been the waterchip) then the game told me i basically triggered the reason why the main character in Fallout 1 headed out in an adventure in the first place.

Creeped me the fuck out :( just THINKING about it :(

The whole idea of Parasite eve made me freaked out. All the people getting turned into goo at the park. The crazy lady eve.

Fatal frame the blind woman the first few time. The little angry killing dolls in the demon tag chapter and just the game in general.

also all the resident evils were scary as shit when i was younger.

I rented RE4 last weekend. The chainsaw guys are so scary I don't let them get within 20 feet of me. I haven't done that since the hounds in Half-Life.
Also the villagers throwing molotov cocktails at you startled me the first time it happened. :(

Skulhedface
Nov 5th, 2005, 11:45 PM
The chainsaw guys are perhaps the only thing in videogames lately that HAVE made me jump.

There's that whole "I haven't fucking saved in a few hours, I don't know where he's coming from but I hear the chainsaw revving, and OMG FUCK HE CUT OFF MY HEAD!!111" thing...

Instant deaths in any videogame piss me off. But in that good way.

I was playing Super Mario Brothers just now and I got to world 4, and I fucked up on the flagpole so I decided to get the coins in the block. While I was jumping all the pixels in the background started to turn black, it looked like a bunch of evil ivy was spreading across the screen.

Yeah it was really scary how they took the enemies from the first game and tried to give them a new "urban" background and story. I also loved fighting men with machine guns instead of methods of execution inspired enemies.

What a scary game.

ArrowX

But I'm thinking more of the Trigger man, the creeper and the Isolationist.

Actually an online game, but NFH Propaganda fuckin scared the hell out of me when your in a hallway type place, the lights go out, and all you can do is watch, as the light flickers for a split second, and you see a figure standing there.... another flicker, and he's closer... repeat a few times, and one last flicker shows this hideous face pressed up against the screen, and you hear a piercing scream.... then everythings back to normal
