View Full Version : I quit pot.

Geggy

I signed a form yesterday promising that I would quit smoking pot, not for one month, not for 6 months but forever. My sister was the co-signer. I smoked everyday for the past two months. Now that I haven't smoked in the last 24 hours, it's coming down real hard. My palms are sweating. I had fun smoking the doobies while it lasted but it's gotta end someday. I'll alway cherish the memory of the last joint I smoked yesterday morning with my coffee and eggs.

good bye, pot, be well.

I've more or less quit smoking for about six months. Since I was twelve, I was, at the very least, three times a week. At most I would do it every day. The thing is, I don't really miss it, unless I've just rented a new game and I intend to play it all night. Other than that type of situation, it really shouldn't be that hard. If anything, it'll fuck your world up. Just like alcohol, which is a habit I can't seem to kick, personally.

pot isn't physically addictive, you dumbasses. it's easier to quit than cigarettes or alcohol.

It's never really been my bag but I think it could be habitually/psychologically addictive. I think the key for him is to avoid the old friends and/or stituations where he tends to want to smoke ... that kind of thing.

You know who's cool? People that do drugs. I can't think of any better way to spend one's time, or money, or life on than slipping needles into my arm and rolling big fatties and smoking them at home. Crack? Hell yes. I love it when people post things about drugs, because it really makes me wanna reply and say supportive things, because i like drug users. I like them a lot. Yep, drug addicts are the coolest, most interesting people EVER. :eek

I don't think Geggy smoked pot at all. This is just a ploy to get people post in this topic. Now I posted, crap.

I am with ninja on this one.

whether someone smokes or not or is lying or not I dont really give a shit. I just find drug talk boring and redundant.

I am not a drug user but even if I was I doubt I would engage in the dumbass stoner conversations.

"DUDE I GOT SO HIGH THAT ONE TIME"
"YAH I DID TOO ONCE IT WAS SO COOL"
"LETS SMOKE SOME DOOBS, 420!!!"

When you start doing pot all the time, you turn into the zombie stereotype loser. This in turn makes not doing pot harder, cause you have to deal with reality, which you've become estranged of. So, it is psychologically addictive in a way.

Pot isn't physically addictive, but it can be mentally addictive. You never forget what it was like to be high, and presuming you enjoyed getting high, not doing it anymore sucks.

Here's an example: Remember that episode of futurama where Fry discovers he has a fortune in his bank account, and he uses it to buy a can of anchovies because they're rare because Zoidberg's species ate them all? And at the end Zoidberg devours the anchovies and wants more and Fry says "There aren't any more. And there never will be." Well, that's what it's like to quit smoking pot.

What a weird metaphor :(

Which is the main reason I prefer talking to people in these threads than talking to anyone that's not inside my immediate circle of friends IRL.

I wonder who the first guy was that said "From this day forward, being completely fucked up and feeling sick and not sober and removing all semblance of reality is COOL!" Yes indeed >:

You'll go back. Pot creates a bi-polar-like psyce (SP?) where the user gets real depressed and regretfull, and quits. Then they miss it, and start again. It's standard to quit it... everyone who'se done it does, but you'll start again. The only way you really stop is to grow out of it.

(it may be a little early, but...)

WELCOME BACK BROTHER!

I was a huge pothead for 2 years. Smoking just about everyday, and spending all my money on it. Then I got busted by the cops in my friends car, and had to quit "for awhile" so I could drop clean during the 12 weeks I was in mandatory drug classes. That was almost a year ago, and I have no desire to smoke again. Weed is fucking gay! :/

Captain Robo

It's called "chasing the high."

Basically, the first "high" you get is supposed to be the most intense. And the subliminal purpose for your addiction is to experience that 'high' again. However, the drugs start to kill off your seratonin levels in your brain, so it requires more drugs in larger doses to experience a high that's not quite as good as your first.

Continuing to use drugs will eventually deplete your seratonin and then maybe you won't get high at all (YOU'VE QUIT!). But that won't change the fact that you're now a vegetable.

:/

Robo you have about as much knowledge on this subject as I have about successfully treating yeast infections >:

Good for you, drugs are a complete waste of time and money. It's demotivating and drags you into crowds of people that are not going to go anywhere except down and drag you with them.. or stay where they are which is usually nowhere, it's very destructive and should be avoided. Keep up the good work.

JeefGyle
Mar 24th, 2003, 10:42 PM
I agree that drugs are a waste of time and money, but I dont agree that people who do them go nowhere in life. My mom has been getting high since she was a teen (not while she was pregnant you assholes) and she has a very nice job, and my stepdad has been getting high for just as long, and he works at Dow Chemical. It really depends on the person.

Robo:

You're gonna have to teach me how to talk out of my ass some time, since it seems you've become good at it.

Marijuana is in no way an SUI (Seritonin uptake inhibitor), and after being smoked, different componenents of the delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) is generally seperated into both active and inactive forms. When the active portion is metabolized by your body, it clouds the thinking process, creating symptoms similar to toxic deleria, like those produced by other psychoactive agents.

Lamens terms: It clouds the thinking process, and slows flow of thoughts in parts of the brain, and speeds up/emphasizes other parts. It in no way alters the chemical make-up of your brain to the extent that harder drugs such as crystal meth and exctacy does.

Information summed up from:
The Handbook of Drug Therapy in Psychiatry

You can find basically the same info and shit if you got off of your lazy ass and took 3 seconds to search Yahoo, bitch.

Lobster Magnet that was a high quality post. Not the one that was simply ":love NOOB :love", the one before that, although the one that was just ":love NOOB :love" was not without its charm.

Pot isn't a good thing, and I wouldn't advocate its use, but it's also no more of a drug than alcohol is. Hell, I think alcohol is more of a drug than weed. Hell, Nyquil is more of a drug than marijuana is

I had a whole bunch of bullshit typed up about why not to smoke, but I'm going to cut my hypocritical statements down to one sentence here:

Drugs are bad.

I'm wondering how the co-signer part works....

So, when you have the urge she smokes instead for you, or when you go back, she is the one who stays straight?

Also have found a leprecitic rash on base of penis and scrotum which is giving off a smell like mouldy almonds (similar to a gangrene odour) which is alone leaving my testes cracked and exposed like I have tinea of the ballsack"
