With the grain or against? For me, against the grain seems to get closer, but burns like fuck. What do you guys do?

i go with the grain to cut it down short, then go against the grain to get the left overs. It really helps get a close shave

Do it in the shower with soap and go against the grain. No razorburn and a smooth shave e'ry time.

I shave against the grain, but then I can't shave against again unless I let it grow for 4-5 days. Any sooner, and my face is literally shredded. Which sucks, because I always feel that I look unclean and shitty when I have any stubble.
And working all the time means I have to shave with the grain and look like a hobo. :(

I only have to shave once every two months :( And even then I don't have a full beard :(
I go with it, then against it

so how many of you learned your shaving techniques from your dad, vs just figuring it out yourself?
just curious.

I taught myself. Actually I studied it on the internet for months before I was able to actually shave. But I had lots of practice.
Not really, but it's my schtick.

My dad told my how to shave my moustache in 6th grade, but then my full facial hair started to come in and I learned to do it against. I'll usually just let a small beard grow out every week and shave.

I had no dad, so I sort of figured it out on my own...but now I have a beard, so the point is moot.

Did anyone else get a Mach 3 in the mail when they registered with the SS? Selective Service, rather than Schutzstaffe, if there's a difference. I now use a Braun Freeglider. But, I inheritted a straight razor from my great-grandfather so I might start using that. I've got the little porcelein soap boat and lather brush to go with it. :posh

I used to dry shave. Then I started to do it in the shower and honestly that's the best way to go. I never get any burn afterwards and it's pretty damn smooth.

Because you know my face so well? Jerk. >:
With, then against is basically just as bad, if not worse, for me.

I don't see how it's possible to shave with the grain.
I shave against. Every day. In the shower.
Bitches.

Yeah :< I have delicate girly skin and I tend to get shitloads of ingrown hairs along my neck which then have to be picked out! hooray!
Shaving up then sideways seems to have the least irritation (my hair grows in sideways, but 'up' is still more against the grain than 'down'), especially vs. down, up, left. I learned how to shave from the debug code in Mortal Kombat for the Genesis.

I'm not 18 yet (only a month away), but about a year ago I got a Schick Quattro in the mail. I thought it was terrible. It was nowhere near as close as my two-blade disposables.

Gravity's a motherfucker ... i.e. that's the way hair grows. Common sense, no?

How ever you shave, make sure you use your customized, tricked out pink razor.

ingrown hairs are easily the most fun thing to rip out of your body.

You're always making jokes ziggy and you know what we here at I-kahlery really appreciate it because you know without a little laughter we'd all be sociopaths and abortions wouldn't tickle anymore because we wouldn't have a nervous system that felt pain or pleasure.
After that the world would either run rampant with children that smile at dying unicorns or people would use their aborted fetus' as currency. Probably the later.
