I wanted to get your opinions on this sprite comic I've been working on with my friend Mike. So far we have made two strips.

Yeah, the backgrounds look kind of crappy. Then again, this is why I wanted feedback.
But also, these aren't the PNG files which are much cleaner.
I had to upload JPEGs because Photobucket automatically resizes anything bigger than 250KB which these were.

But "the sprites are crap" really doesn't tell me much. How are they crap?
What do you think could be touched up about them? You know, details.

Also, I'd like a critique of the humor if you don't terribly mind.

That's actually really a matter of opinion and perception there.

Its absolute fucking shit....in fact, thats not really fair as there really is nothing there to insult. None of those comic strips contain even the vaguest impressionistic suggestion of what could be classed as 'a joke'.
Sorry to be harsh, but best that someone tells you now before you start believing you are doing something worthwhile that others would be entertained by. Back to the drawing board for AT LEAST A DECADE.

It's unintentionally funny because it tries typical sprite comic humor but the author doesn't understand how to make a joke themselves so they try to copy and variate from other material. However, since he doesn't understand why that other material is funny, it results in a grab gab of elements of an already half-baked joke that don't add up to a punchline. It's the same reason Boston and Shaun is funny, only you aren't mentally retarded and foreign, you're just a drip.

And stop PMing me to ask what Boston and Shaun is, ask Google for fuck's sake.

I'm not sure what's happening here. Either Boston drank a ton of water from the hose and is spitting it, or she drank a ton of water, then stuck the hose up her ass and is shooting it out of that. I honestly can't tell with this comic.

You can make sprites and have decent drawing skills :(


Sprites look better if you try to make them look as if they actually came from a game, the pixels don't line up and the colors are too weird on these. The backgrounds need work too, and it's not because it's JPEG that it looks bad.

And yeah, sometimes you can't always explain why a joke isn't funny, sometimes it just is.

I recommend looking into improving your art and writing skills. Or hiring an artist and writer :/

Don't use Mega Man sprites, either. Those are the staple of every sprite comic except 8BitTheater, and they're not even that good.
