View Full Version : Bod's race regime

Hey, I ran a 5 mile race today, which as it goes is one of the hardest races I've ever done due to the speed. Much prefer half marathons where a person can chill and have chin-wag with fellow competitors.

Anyway. I'd hoped to complete it under 44minutes, but as it goes finished at 41 mins and 14 secs.

"How on earth for the love of sweet jesu" I hear you cry.

Well I'll tell you. Night before the race drink half a bottle of champagne and then a bottle of Aussie Jacobs Creek White. Wake at 5am and have a shag, then kip. Re-wake at 8.30, screw for appporx 30mins and then get out of bed. Drink orange juice and drive to start line. Start running. Run some more.

That doesn't sound like an awfully good training regime :/

Seems simple enough. Only a genius could think it up.

It was more of a happy accident.

Mind you, the other half in this equation didn't do so well as hoped in his run. He obviously ain't as hard-core as me.

Very sweet Seth. I've been wanting to leave my job for sometime, so maybe this is a new way forward with me. - A new 'hole' in the market.

Over the next few months I've applied to run a 5 m, a 20 m and a half marathon. Ending in a full Marathon in June.

Will keep y'all posted on my gruelling race training regime.

Why the dumping!
I suffer from depression and he was finding my mood swings hard to cope with - but then so do I!! But I think things are ok between us again, so probably more run training will be had. It's one thing to warn someone that you have fits of madness, it's another for them to actually experience it. I wouldn't go out with someone like me that's for sure.

Bod
Feb 13th, 2006, 11:41 AM
bizarre aren't I?

i don't think I've met anyone on the net who doesn't.

It's the disease of the century. But mine is quite genuine I'll have you know! But I'll not witter on about it.

But since your a runner Bod, doesn't that help release the endorphins needed to ease the depression? I hear a lot of clinics are recommending it holistically.

You should try heroin, I hear that helps alot with depression.

Bod

Running certainly does help combat depression. And hard running can make you very high.

Also cypramil helps reduce depression, the problem lies within coming off such medication, which I did rather abruptly. You see when you're on it you think you're fine, so you come off it only to go bump soon afterwards. I've done this twice now. and the last few days have been the 'bump'.

I'm going out for a run now...
