View Full Version : Long Distance Relationship Failed / I Am A Little Bad

I failed in my long distance relationship today...
Well, actually, it was saturday. I decided it was not for me anymore, and I contacted her first thing monday, and we were sad about it but it was understood that it cannot work, and in the end the feeling was rather mutual -- we had been worn thin from phone cards and internet conversations and it became exhausting.
It is not worth the effort, because we were often disgruntled over the situation, and so it was abandoned.
The good news is that I am going to actually start seeing a particular Korean girl... Maybe it is bad for me to do this, but she was even the motivation in partly breaking it off; I felt my heart drift to her, and when it was clear she was also interested, things got pieced together that way.
So I am very satisfied about it, in the end, and will be going to dinner and a punk show with a very fun and great person, and I will feel less of a burden and more of a freedom these days.
What do you think of a long distance relationship?
Am I wrong for drifting and taking interest in a woman so soon, and literally while I was still with her?

I don't think it's wrong, necessarily. Society's not yet at a point where long distance relationships are feasible. If neither you or her could handle it, it's nobody's fault. That's just human nature. From my experience, long distance relationships only work under an insane degree of circumstances. I've been in one for 4-5 years now, and it would probably take me three days to write out all the shit that we've been through to keep it together.

My girlfriend lives an an hour and a half away from where I live now so im not sure if that qualifies as a long distance relationship. Even so I had some doubts about whether it would work out to begin with, but once I realised that in all my time at Uni I have not met a single girl that is even half and interesting as she is, driving back every weekend seems like a small price to pay.
Also it gives me a chance to see my old friends, listen to a few tech podcasts and get away from my gay housemates for a day or two.

I have a feeling that you torture your women with bamboo sticks when you can't bend them to your will.

I honestly think suicide is the only conceivable cure for what ails you.

The current girl I am now dating lives an hour and 10 minutes away (or an hour and a half at peak hour), and I do not consider it long distance in the least (beats the hell out of an 18 hour flight sort of long distance).
I think that it i a very straining situation and I admire anyone who can do it, and part of me wishes I could have held it together better.

My poem for her:
Times were good -
you made my prick sing from afar
as in the days when you were near.
I'll remember you when I think of the Casualties (2)
(2) I gave her a Casualties CD.

That and the footnote thing are the first intentionally funny things i've seen you do :<
are you growing a sense of humor in your backyard or something ;<

I used to date a guy on the board, who lived about 12 hours away. It worked well for a while, then he started getting jealous. So we broke up.
