Today I bought Tool's new dvd of two of ther most recent videos, Schism and Parabola, which weren't included along with the 4 videos in the Salival dvd. It's worth the money if you liked the album, Lateralus and all the weird stuff that they alway put out in ther videos, although the cover art of the dvd looks lke it was done by a goth kindergartner. There was also a sticker on the plastic wrap promising a new Tool album that's slanted to be released this coming spring. I went ahead to check Tool news and it's confirming that the next album, which is has not yet been titled, will act as a sequeal to Lateralus. Although I did enjoy most of the tracks, I wasn't overly impressed with the entire album. I found some of the slow instrumental songs in between tracks to be utterly pointless. So lets just hope it's better than Lateralus...and I don't expect it to be better than the orgasm-inducing Aenima.
Will keep you guys updated as soon as I find out more...that if you care...

I thought Lateralus was weak as hell overall. There were a few decent tracks, but really not much to it as a whole. They'll never top "Undertow" as an album if you ask me, their sound was just right back then and damned if I didn't love that song "Bottom". Though, if I had to choose their best song, it'd have to be "Jerk-off" from the "Opiate" album.

Yeah I agree that Lateralus lacked consistency. Every song had it's moments but none of them I felt was really complete, it left me unsatified. At some point in every one of their songs went into wrong directions, it's distracting. "Grudge" came close, if it wasn't for the lengthy slow part 3/4 way into the song. While Tool is well known for subtle lyrics, I thought that the lyrics were too obvious and uninteresting. Speaking of lyrics, Undertow was the best album in the lyrics department, wth Bottom and Sober both beng my favorte. But I've alway been more interested in the instrumental aspect of music, which is why Aenima is my obvious choice for the favorite Tool album. I can't decide which song I like the best, cuz all of 'em are just too fucking bad ass.

They like to torture us.
Its been confirmed that the new album will be titled "10,000 years" and they've made it clear that it won't be follow up to Lateralus. thank god.

Jerk Off is really good, my favorite song from Opiate, but I really liked Flood off Undertow :)

Luckyy bastard. I was supposed to go to nyc for the art/rave show featuring Alex Grey a while ago but plans fell through. His artwork reminds me so much of the visible man model that I had when I was a kid.
sSICKTTODEATH i heard different that the album is going to be bluesy but then who knows...
I forgot to add the track list...
Vicarious

Wings For Marie (Pt 1)
10,000 Days (Wings Pt 2)
