Apparently I had one, and I ended up in the hospital at 9am yesterday morning. I was discharged at 10pm after tons of pain, a bit of morphine, and a CAT scan (including throwing up from the iodine IV wash).

They think it'll be an ongoing thing, so I'm being sent to a GYN (3 weeks after an exam) to check and check again. >:

How are they planning on treating it?

Oh, this one already ruptured and caused me immense pain. When a female gets these, she usually gets them often, or they'll need to be controlled in some way.

I just reset my BC pills (which is one way to control a certain type of cyst), so that might be why it ruptured.

I go see my GYN within a few days, and they'll take a better look at it. Hopefully I'll know a better way to control them soon.

Anyone know anything or have experience with ovarian cysts? ;<

I'm really sorry your going through this. I have a friend that is going through it occassionally now that she changed her b/c dosage. Hers are cyclic and this is why she changed her dosage. She went through several internal ultra sounds to see just how big they (there were three for her) were getting. It turns out that they grow at certain times of the month, becomming painful, and then ebb after the hormonal surge has passed. The last time I talked to her she was doing fine but they had discovered some scar tissue around the main site. After the dose change, they stopped fluctuating and one of them has dissapeared altogether. She isn't in any pain now but will, once in a while feel a twinge right around that time of the month.

Good luck. I hope they can get this cleared up for you.

I had one about 10 years ago and ended up in the hospital. It was almost as painful as labor pains!! >: I went to a shitty hospital and they gave me pain killer and sent me on my way. I ended up in another hospital a few days later after I had a similiar attack on my way to college. The doctor told me that the first hospital should have gave me some antibiotics.

Luckily, it has never happened to me again. The doctor told me that ovarian cysts are very common in women, however, they usually don't burst like mine did.

I hope you feel better soon!!

We already discussed things earlier MLE, but I'd just like to add that laughter is the best medicine for this sort of thing.

So clearly you've come to the wrong place. :(

Ouchies. My sympathies. Hope you feel better soon.

Anyway, if you be so kind as to tell me...what are the warning signs of ovarian cysts and how can they be prevented?

it must suck to have ovaries and such, not only do you get cysts but alot of women I know also have endometreosis which sounds as horrible if not more horrible than cancer(when it's bad)

My friend's mom has that, she has cervical cancer to. I'm glad you don't have cervical cancer.

I'm sorry to make light of something like this, but apparently being nearsighted has it's unintentionally hilarious consequences...

When I went to click the link for this thread the one above it noted that it was started by mburbank... and I'd mistaken it for this one.

I almost thought Max had ovarian cysts. Oops.

At any rate, my mother had a terrible problem with them and started freaking out, thinking it'd be cancer but it turned out benign... hopefully the same happens for you.
