A New Jersey politician is hoping to outlaw anonymous speech on the Internet, claiming that civility must be mandatory in political debate." ... "Biondi wants to require that anyone "who posts written messages on a public forum Web site" be identified "by a legal name and address" that is either disclosed publicly or kept on file. The measure also outlaws "false" posts on the Web and permits anyone upset by such posts to recover punitive damages and attorney's fees. This, of course, violates the First Amendment."

I wonder if politicians will actually be held to this standard.

Serious cause on the whitehouse website there's always articles and such and bush is always lying so i mean couldn't i sue him for punitive damage?

Yes, old people do not understand the Internet, or anything about computers for that matter

I think that Myspace.com is what started this, since there was a case about people getting 'harrased' or 'cyber-bullied' on some profiles.

I really hate the fact that the government is closing in on free speech on the internet. Pretty soon, we're all going to be controlled by the Feds :(
