I wanna be a chef. I realized that last night while substituting for Laura as the resident housewife because she was sick. I made an awesome leftover soup and I realized for the first time that cooking is fucking awesome and that I want to make a career out of it. I know I've got a long way to go and stuff but I'm convinced that cooking is the reason for my existance.

I don't know you so you need to tell me if you are serious or if you are being sarcastic like a big dumb jerk

I am serious actually, although maybe slightly drunk, I'd like to be chef myself, I like cooking and it'd be great to make a living out of it.

Um...I wouldn't pay for leftover soup at a restaurant.

I made a bag of popcorn last night and decided I wanted to be Orville Redenbocker and start a major worldwide corn kernal conglomerate.

I'm sorry, I'm bitter and haven't had any coffee yet. Good luck with that.

chefs work horrible hours.

i know lots of chefs! one of my bestest buds is a chef who has no sense of smell :eek

oh and even though the hours suck, i've been told that there is no greater satisfaction than getting to the point where you run your own kitchen in your own restaurant with your own recipes and being successful.

so good luck.

i work in a restaurant and all the cooks there kinda hate being cooks. The chefs are alright but u can tell that deep down they hate being chefs too, altho they get to boss the cooks around. All a chef is is like a manager over cooks, so its kinda lonley and boring.

have you ever thought of working in a soup kitchen???

It wasn't a contest. >:

GW, I think if you took a picture of yourself in the kitchen, only in a apron and chef hat, I would claim you to be the hottest women ever. On these boards.

I was a cook. It sucks balls. Rote memorization of how to prepare crappy frozen food and lots of cleaning. Fuck.

Good luck GW. If your set to do it, and you really enjoy it nothing can stop you. At least you know now what you want to do rather than being forty or something and regretting the direction of your life.

Considering the fact that after realizing that I am not cut out for game programing, I am happy that someone has found a calling or purpose. I really do wish you good luck on that :)

i like cooking is lots of fun, but then comes the cleaning :/ but all professional chefs don't have to clean. i think is a good idea for a job

Terra

Well cleaning CAN be a form of art too. You have to break in at ground level for the most part. I have a friend that started off in the kitchen doing basic stuff like cleanup and food preparation and now three years later she's one of the biggest chefs around here. But that's moving pretty fast for her. She was just devout and committed to the craft. The master chef took notice and helped her along.

It's GW's thread. She seemed miffed that the godamned thing was moved in the first place. Name your price and we'll have somebody tackle her and give her a soup enema.
