View Full Version : The web I've woven....

So I'm wondering what experience folks have had with casual, finite relationships.

So I met this woman. We like each other. She's moving far, far away (6 hours :)) in two weeks. We've been dating.

So last night, we have this talk about her leaving and basically that being it. See ya. Nice knowing ya. Peace.

Now, I seemingly have two options. I can either continue to have a fling that we both agree will ultimately go nowhere, or I can back away and forget a girl I'll never see again.

Some might suggest I ride it out for the two weeks and have a good time. The problem with that is that it's not really my personality, and I actually do dig this chick. She'd be a good girlfriend, were it not for the moving and never talking again business.

Any thoughts/storys/experiences to share on this?

I think you need to refer to Danno's thread to determine whether you were actually dating her, or just stalking her.

Yeah, I checked it first. Thanks for the advice, though. :(

We're certainly dating, we just aren't a couple. I'm not requesting dating advice, I'm asking for ethical advice I suppose.

We both know it's done in two weeks. But she'll keep calling, and I'll keep going over to her apartment. Should this stop, or do I ride it out? Again, I do like her, and she seems to like me, but ya know the moving and stuff.....

Back away and forget about romantic involvment with her. It sounds that no matter what, your probably going to not be very happy. Do you want to prolong the inevitable and continue to date her (dragging out the hurt factor) or are you ready to deal with just being friends and keeping it on that level?

You never know what the future holds. She possibly could move back. Those doors could remain open and in the future you might be glad you did.

My advice as a man of the cloth is to back away now and move on to the next lucky lass. Like Terra said, you never know, she might move back at some point so it wouldn't hurt to keep in touch with her in some aspect to at least keep the flame burning.

keep in touch as a friend. Or you can refer to Peeweehermans philosophy when it comes to women (RBRSE) but yeah, as stated before: keep in touch cuz you just never know, it's a small world.
