Reminisce about I-Mockery!

Okay guys I always like to remember the past and look to the future, but this thread is ALL ABOUT that first part. All you neophytes can look to our collective experience for inspiration! Let's see...

October 2000: I had just registered after buying a Booberry t-shirt, and I felt so connected that I called my girlfriend when Rog was on The Daily Show telling her to watch and she was all like WTF, probably contributing to the premature ending of that relationship.

December 2000: I first begin my polemic career as a Mocker by assuming the role as a hard-ass Catholic. I'm quite convinced that CLA Spinster (theapportioner) is a lesbian and Glowbelly remarks that "If your (my) mind were any more narrow I'd (she) floss with it". A critical step in my adolescent development.

January 2001: AChimp's waxing presence pisses me off to no end for no real reason. I still play it low-key, rarely venturing out of the Philosophy boards.

March 2001 (approximately): Public speculation posits me as the secret identity of the elusive Mr. Impostery. I take this to mean that I belong.

April 2001: The crest of the Era of Yahoo! Voicemail. While on spring break in Florida I compulsively dial a 1-800 number to hear the voices of Swamper, Yammy, Miss Emma, and probably other fine womens. It was through this outlet that Agent Burdock confirmed my existence, then mysteriously disappeared.

May 2001: Instead of going to Junior Year Prom, I participate in I-Mockery's first (and probably only) Drunk Night! Except I wasn't drunk, just displacing my fear of girls onto the internet. I still managed to be scandalized by a particular female poster that night!

June 2001: Once I hit post 256, I decided I need to take a break from active participation for a while. Don't question my logic.

11 September 2001: When the greatest collective "WTF?!" ever happens to the internet Volksgeist, Habib Walters is suddenly VERY unpopular! When defending myself against cries of un-Americanism for not demanding that the Middle East be turned into glass, Kevintheherbivore (Oh yes, there once was such a time) honors me with a place in his signature for one of my thoughtless aphorisms.

May 2002: I post pictures of my braids for prom and a mastadonian afro with Bishop Higi at my Confirmation. Females everywhere go crazy.

20 June 2002: When KFC gives away free chicken fingers, I-Mockery goes wild!

July-August 2002: After establishing myself as a virulent anti-Semite in the philosophy boards, Kakha makes a parody of me! From then onwards the teeming millions must be careful to distinguish Winston Smith, bastion of sophomorism and hater of Jews everywhere, with Winston A Smith, a babbling moron who could never keep track of which account he was using, leading to some very schizoid posting habits.

Soon thereafter I have my first mocker-to-mocker phone call with the lovely and talented Hugh Bristic. As fate would have it, she's not as manly as the name implies.

November-December 2002: I discover that sleeping with strange girls can be messy business, and the I-Mockery community laughs in unison!

At some point in the first quarter of 2003, the switch to the new boards is made. I decide that it's a sign from God that I shouldn't re-register and instead focus on my grades. Still, I come to this website for passive learning on what's going on in the Iraqi build-up to war. I guess I thought cnn.com was too inefficient or something.

Late March 2003: Rumors of my death are greatly exaggerated. When they let me out of the looney bin, I make a triumphant return because I have jack shit to do with my life at that point.

August 2003: Reports of my amazing vehicular acrobatics astound everyone with my survival!

December 2003: Not entirely convinced that I'm immortal at this point, I swallow a bottle of aspirin and go on a sarcastic posting spree. Doopa is not happy and I get my first banning warning.

Until February 2005, I was busy living the good life to do much besides create a character and then I had a little story to tell about a philosophical experiment of mine. Loose lips sink ships! Back to the psychiatric ward with me! Coming out weeks later I was entertained by a particular hairy-assed Greek insinuating the whole thing was a hoax. If only, dude!

In the time since then, the majority of the assholes who are going to read this post signed up, making the past year a period of abounding tedium.

I finally regestered when I-Mock got off ezboard. I think I became generally well-liked early on. I only remember Rongi hating me at first. :(

i remember:

i found i-mockery while looking for south park stuff, and roger at the time had something on the site about how much he hated south park. i read every article like a thousand times, then tried to submit one that was funny, but not very good (at least i thought it was funny). i was very kindly rejected by roger (something that would become pretty commonplace). i decided to check out the message boards to see if i could get a better idea of what was considered funny around here, and learned i had no idea of just how lame i really was.

9/11 happened about a month after i got here, and i sort of avoided the prolonged hatred most newbies get. disturbingly, i had been writing an article about how certain ailments involving my ass were causing horrific violence around the world (the israelies had shot a missile into some hamas leaders apartment, and along with killing the hamas guy they had killed a bunch of women and children) the final line of the not so funny piece had been "if a bunch of kids get killed when i get a prostate exam, what the hell is going to happen when i go for a colononscopy this morning?"
i had finished writing it on the bus on the way to work, when i got to the front of my building, somone said "the pentagon has been attacked!" i got online, and stayed online here at i-mockery until the company realized all i was doing was posting on i-mockery.

i went to cleveland with Jager and Proto, met the girl i will always be in love with (glowbelly), met buffalo tom, dr boogie, spaddowsky, dole, and nealry got us all laid by a bunch of strippers who wanted us to go home with them and party, and related how i had gotten high and wandered around food lion with my dick out.

i had two parties that could not have turned out different. the first was so awsomely fun (i believe it was the first time chojin got drunk), and the second i believe i ended up boring doopa, roger, and military messiah half to death :(.

i bought a painting from doopa for my whore ex wife, it was beautiful, and am still convinced doopa is an artistic talent that has yet to get the recognition she deserves.

i got the bright idea for the mock wars, completely fucked up the planning for it, then beat jixby because he quit paying attention during our fight.

i wrote a few things for achimp, argued with chojin a LOT (chojin is a passionate guy, if nothing else).

i created THE AMAZING RANDO, and i still feel it was my greatest i-mockery related venture. in my heart i liked to believe that i pissed max burbank off completely with that character.

there was the i-mockery prom, pirate day (which i was not a part of, but i still think about), and about a thousand threads where i would post pictures with comments that only amused me.

I don't remember arguing with you about anything, but then again I don't remember a whole lot. your party was the first 'mockmeet' i attended, and it was before the New York one, which I think you didn't go to. I didn't go to the first mockmeet at Glowbelly's house because I was still an internet villain (to the point where Glow picking me up for your party was a surprise to a lot of people and she told them that if I was gonna be a shit that she'd dump me off at the curb). Then at your party I remember meeting Mew and introducing your kids to Halo and spending the majority of the weekend posting on I-Mockery (vets4life), but yeah my first drink was your jello shooters although I maintain that I did not get drunk that night ;< My first drunkedness happened weeks later at this rich girl's house whereupon I got really, really sick and didn't drink for another year after that.

Then there was the 2002 mockmeet in NYC where we all shacked up into one tiny-ass hotel room and one inordinately-large hotel room (cherry and her two escorts got the big one). We saw Burbank perform live at this communist-themed comedy club, visited around NYC, walked around parks, ate at The World (featuring MY SACRIFICE). I was upset because Lenore promised to see me there and she didn't (MY SACRIFICE). Everyone was cool and everyone was buddies from then on except apparently me and Carnivore because he decided to start taking me seriously from then on. I also remember flipping out at Re online after that because she made a comment about wanting to break my camera (I did take 1000s of pictures :<).

Then you had your 2nd party and lots more people were there and I played Master of Puppets on your wife's guitar and vividly remember this drunk hick bursting into the room with an air of EMERGENCY and getting on the drums. It was like OH SHIT KLAXXON KLAXXON JAM SESSION. Then I went to sleep and glowbelly came in the room, got naked, and slept in your daughter's bed.

I think at some point after that I went up to that injun town in NY where Lenore lived and hung out with her for about 8 hours total that weekend, when she wasn't blowing me off. Shortly after that, I decided to have internet crushes on all the women on the board which was especially ironic because that sort of shit is why I had originally left the boards for a year in 99. And is probably why a lot of them aren't around anymore today.

Which reminds me, I re-arrived back at the original Mock Wars you had started which was totally in 2000 so don't give me that signed up before 9/11 crap ;< I got to the semifinals with a staggeringly unremarkable performance and got beaten by burbank by 1 vote. I continued being disliked for my attitude and liked for being a funny jerk until the first half of that started to disappear as people got more used to me.

AS TO HOW I FIRST GOT HERE

My friend james was searching altavista for 'BOB SAGET HATE PAGE' and found Winky the Magic Dogmuled Haircatcher's sXe/vegan/whatever HATE Page, which featured a big picture of Bob Saget with the caption "This man loves straight edge, need I say more?" or something to that effect. We loved the page and somewhere in 96-98 I emailed this winky guy and offered to help find him new pictures for the site. I did (you can still see where rog gives credit on those pages, though I don't remember my old psuedonyms and email address) and bought his albums when they came out. One day he opened up a forum which was this really shitty message tree system where you could only view one post at a time. We only had about 4 regulars at first, but there were tons of angry scenesters that would blow through, to the point where those forums got 'taken over' for a good month or so and used as a sXe community site. Eventually enough regulars got together and beat back the unwashed masses, shortly after which i-mockery was started and all the geocities sites were banded together, and the new i-mockery forums were created on ezboard. Everyone was afraid to venture out of the Winky subforum on the ezboard at first, even though we had a new 'general blabber' forum, and you can see some of the first posts back in that section (http://go.ezboard.com/bimockery).

That timeline jumped around more than Pulp Fiction. :< Okay, maybe I do remember a whole lot, just not really anything after 2002.

i can credit you with a few things:

1. my love for Halo, and the fact that i can trump nerds with the fact that it was originally called marathon and had a very deep story line.

2. Zoe's (and mine) for anime that is not yugio or that pokemon bullshit. this i appreciate more than i can tell you. it gives me and her something we really can relate to each other with.

on that subject, you would be amazed at how quickly she has stopped being a little girl. she is so damn good looking it horrifies me. she has magenta hair right now, and will prolly get her eyebrow pierced sometime soon. she is so cool it kills me, she wants to go to japan to live (she is currently learning japanese so she can read manga in it's original form)

i remember hatin on alithium when i first arrived and upright citizen tellin me to shut up a bunch of times. i told dole to shove his compliments up his ass. sspadowsky asked me to settle down and i did. punsquai happened. on drunk night i posted a pic of myself nekkid and i think bsx still has that. emma freaked out about it which is kinda ironic now seeing she was/is a suicide girl. i crushed hard on jaeger. i met proto, jaeger and military messiah first. then the rest followed. dole was my boyfriend for awhile there. uhhhhhhhhhh, parties at george's were fun. chojin asked me if he could swear in front of me the first time i met him. he doesn't remember this, but he did...unless i was drunk again, but i don't think so because i had been driving for quite some time without stopping for beer. ;) oh yeah and he made me buy a pizza that we ate in a parking lot. i bought an air freshener with a baby on it dressed up like a cowboy that is still hanging in my car.

i told roonting that i hoped his aunt died of cancer. then we became best buds. then there was a fight that involved agent burdock and protoclown and i haven't seen roonting since. except when he was groinnot and then groin and then i thought rongi was groin because of the whole same letters in the name thing but i asked him and he said no.

i yelled at mcclain a lot when he first got here for posting crappy stories.

wow. i remembered more than i thought i would. i have no in what order this all happened, though.

I remember him having trouble thinking of a name, and then finally he asked me what I think of the name i-mockery but I don't remember what I said. I do remember that I never saw him again but I heard him typing all the time :(

I remember how I first found this site. It was back when Domokun's Angry Smashfest was released and I decided to check out the sites of the people who made it.

I also remember that the first minimock i read was Riki-Oh The story of Ricky by Dr Boogie. Too bad I put my Forum membership on the backburner for so long because I probably wouldnt be so confused about who Bape is had I joined sooner.


And isnt Bape a moderator (former) who used to instill fear and bannings on a frequent basis and had a Swinging Monkey Avatar.

I remember I was one of those guys who found I-Mockery through the ROM hack reviews, and I went and worked my way back from there reading all the old articles. After awhile I saw all the links to "COME DISCUSS THIS ON OUR FORUMS!" and clicked the link and that was that.

I remember that since this was my first message board I came across as obnoxious until I got lectured about my obnoxiousness, along with some other relative noobs, by Chojin and to a lesser extent Jixby.

There was also the "Skulhedface Sucks" era, the "Spadowsky thinks the pics I posted on the PYPH thread make me look like the singer from Chevelle" era, and uh...

That's about it, actually. Other than that I mostly just post at random in GB, the Movies forum or the Gaming forum.

My response was to defend him with a long linguistic tirarde that he was actually speaking Latin. A while ago I went to urinate into a toilet. Usually when I do this, I progress further into a situationally-inspired philosophical treatise about that friend and foe of mine, tentatively titled "Meditations on My Cock". However, my attention was shifted to the memory of the scene in About Schmidt where Jack Nicholson chuckles while pissing all over his own bathroom. Years ago, Royal Tennenbaum (or maybe even SolidSnakeASS) made numerous references to his love of that movie. Eventually I made a post going on a tirade about what an absolute moron you'd have to be to like that movie, let alone find it funny. To people who read that thread it probably just seemed like I was pretending to be pissed off about something that stupid. But, no, really it did piss me off. The idea that someone could like that movie. And you know what? When I was pissing a short while ago and that memory came up, every bit of rage returned full swing and has yet to leave me.

I remember finding the EZboards totally by accident and thinking it was the funniest thing ever, back when Protoclown actually posted and just before Legolars got there and was all gay for pirates. Es arrived and duked it out with Crunch and someone else in any and every thread. I registered at the new forums but hardly ever posted (HAZING PROCESS :(). So, I ended up sort of the awkward forum equivalent of the spaz kid kept in the same grade for years 'til hes part of the furniture. Oh yeah, and never laughing at t'internet so much as at Jixby and Wreck's mock war thread.

and dole, it is ok at this point. she moved into a trailer with her new boyfriend and they hooked the dryer up wrong and burnt it down.

And some time later, Rog posted about having received an email from a detective researching the case to press charges against Mr Bojangles.

And Ronnie Raygun got Posterchild to testify to his blackness. Whatever point he was trying to make, I'm sure it was very profound.

I never did get around to posting a picture of myself with a sign saying "I'm a hot chick and I love Jixby Phillips". Even when I was at the Eiffel Tower, it totally slipped my mind.

And one time a friend from school found out I posted here but didn't know my name was Winston Smith on the boards, so he posted a thread called "Where's Seth?" and everyone else claimed to be Seth. He ended up making like four accounts before deciding that I-Mockery was not the place for him, and he never said a word to me about it.
