welp, it isn't. i mean, i used photoshop to do some basic sharpening, color adjustment, cropping and resizing, but that's it.
if you mean because the background's blurred that's because when i shot the picture i was at about f5.6 (shallow depth of field).

The middle two look more like "hey look at this" pics than "art photography" pics. But who am I anyway.

i love old cemeteries. my dad used to drag my brothers and i all over the county, making crayon imprints of tombstones of people he was researching. i like the last one especially.

I live across the street from a cemetary, and I think a short-sighted person planted a tree next to one of the headstones a really long time ago. The tree actually grew AROUND the headstone so it was locked inside the bark :eek It's still locked in the stump, but they had to cut the rest of the tree down after it was struck by lightning a year or two ago ;(

damn you for bumping this, thereby making me read my post again--only to discover a terrible pronoun usage error! >:

oh heck this is old but it is at the top so i gotta say i love these photographs glowbelly
part of my liking these is that i get an irrationally gloomy feeling (causing gay levels of personal introspect) when i see tombstones and grave markers that are dilapidated beyond legibility

I can clearly see that Glowbelly has a better grasp of cropping photos.

surprisingly those weren't cropped. they're right out of the cam.
i think people just forget to get down low and close - fill the frame, that's all. tell your friend that advice if s/he really likes photography. the pictures will end up looking way better.
