I'm glad they stuck with the Gamecube-style combat, instead of motion-controlled. Four players on-screen all controlled by motion, especially in online capabilities, is a tall drink. I'd like to think they could have some motion-specific mini-games in there though.

Not sure how a realistic human being like Solid Snake is going to fit in with the rest of the characters. :(

On a related note, SSB Melee is still $30 because Nintendo can't afford to drop that or Mario Kart to $20, so I have never bought either. :( I want Melee, but I can't justify spending $30 on a game that's been out for so long and isn't rare or coming with extra shit.

I heard a rumor about Earthworm Jim. At first I dismissed it, but he was already in Clayfighter, so...

I gotta say, his moveset would be incredible. His head-whip could either grab or hurt people, or be used as a third jump even. Imagine a gun attack, like Game and Watch's hammer...you can get the bubble gun, or the nuke, or the homing missle...

And his level could be like Lorenzo's Soil, with dirt crumbling around you according to the attacks.

I know it's just a rumor but its got such big possibilities.

I agree, but Ice Climbers got in and F-Zero wasn't really all that popular and Falcon got in the first one. If they did put him in though, I'd like to see Psy-Crow too. The thing is, I'm not sure about EWJ's status in Japan, so.

Which is another thing...Nintendo is being really hush-hush on who the secret characters are, like they've always been. The only two franchises without more than one character (i think) are Earthbound and F-Zero. A lot of people are calling Poo or Jeff, but it's just speculation. They'll probably throw in another wild card like the Ice Climbers or Game and Watch, too. I'd like to see Sonic and Tails too, since third parties are now jumping in.

I'm gonna do my best not to read anything about it when it comes out, so I can get the secret characters on my own. :(

I heard somewhere a long time ago that Sonic was "definitely" in as a base character and Knuckles was "definitely" in as a secret one, but I don't know how reliable that is. I think it was corallary to that April Fool's joke IGN or whoever pulled a few years ago where they spliced Sonic and Knuckles into a Melee game.

Edit: Also, I think Pit counts as the "Wild Card" for this game. He was only in two games.

GW you're dumb and Fox is a lot of people's best character. Everyone around my area is at least decent with him. I think he's in one of the upper tiers.

Fox is fucking phenomenal. He falls like a god damn rock, but if you can master his aerial upward kick he can get Star K.O.'s on even the fattest of asses.

Look at the circled area. It looks like a pair of inverted batwings, with a standing coffin between them. I can't think of any other game with this type of setting unless it's something for the new Zelda game, or maybe something from Fire Emblem.

It might not even be a coffin but I can't think of any current characters this level would draw from. Ideas?

& everyone is good with fox, because he's the newbie character. if anyone dosn't know how to dash in & up C or up A you must be retarded. fox isn't tier 1, because of how fast he falls. if you random the level, and don't be a newb and pick corneria or FD, fox is owned. ie, jungle japes, mushroom kingdom 2, termina. 1 spinning down c (ie mewtwo, yoshi) and fox is dead on those levels. he's only good on flatground where there is no risk.

Jiggly-Puffs down B has a secret that makes it worth while. Try using it then as you are touching ground but still while hitting target use the move where you go to sleep. ;p

Actually I'm not sure if it still works in Melee but in the N64 one it is a one hit instant kill.

jiggly's down b only connects if jiggly puff is overlapping the opponent (ontop of them). it's not an instant kill, but over like 40% it is

they do not have to be asleep. her lullaby is a terrible move except in some 2v2 situations

The only reason Jigglypuff and Pikachu got in are because they're the two most popular Pokémon, I think. I guess Mewtwo was in there to counterbalance the cuteness, and it's a good idea I think. Pichu, no idea.

I think if they add ANYONE else, and this is a big IF, it should be an actual character...like, Ash. I can't name any of the new ones and the old ones don't possess the appeal that the ones that're already there do.

Dude whatever Ice Climbers are fantastic. You just have to play with them a while and get used to it.

There's something about the Air Forward+A hit where they both slam the mallet into the other guy's head. Since there're two of them, it's almost a 50% damage first hit.

Banjo-Kazooie wouldn't be bad, if they weren't owned by Rare. It wouldn't even need to be a team thing, since Kazooie would just chill in the backpack the whole time, maybe only coming out to shoot an egg or two. I could actually see them as being a Yoshi clone maybe.

Someone else had the idea that they should have a character just named "Belmont" or "The Belmonts" and have different costumes be the different members of the family, just so no-one's too disappointed.

Marc, it took you a while to get used to them too, right? I used to badmouth the crap out of them, but they really are a completely different style of play.

I love using Jigglypuff and using the strategy where you throw someone off and just jump toward them and keep kicking them further and further away, until they can't get back. Then turn around, use the rest of your jumps and >+B's to get back.

In the old one I used to throw someone into a wall, yo-yo them coming back, stomp them into the ground, shield (for their rising attack) and bat them out for a 60+% combo. I loved it. :(

The iceclimbers are actually really good but you have to get people in the middle of them , you can also actually get them to pick up 2 diff items at once , (one for each of them)
they can attack multiple characters at once or just have the pink one be used as a decoy . the funny thing about them is i usually think im getting my ass kicked when im using them and i somehow end up winning the match at the end oddly enough .
