Christ I can't believe JBL goosestepped in Germany and got off scot-free....Anyway, the best way to expose somebody to Wonder Showzen, is to show them the "Patience" episode. If they're still in the room, it's safe to say they get it.

I've tried to get my friends into it, but they've always been shitty episodes. Trying to make someone sit down and actually watch the episode about piracy ("Co-Operation", i think) is impossible if they go into it not knowing what to expect.

On the flip-side, "Justice" is particularly great for that sort of thing.

i love the episode where the last 15 minutes is just the first 15 minutes IN REVERSE and the piracy episode where the last half is like 4 episodes cut 4 ways and you have no idea what is going on and then 1o f the sides start splitting into like 50 sides :0

Today I watched the whole first season with my friend and his stupid friends who all talked over jokes by turning to each other and repeating stuff that was just said on the show, you know that awful thing that stupid people do when they hear something and they go "hes all... (THE THING THAT JUST HAPPENED A SECOND AGO)" ugh

and durring the patience episode they asked me if the whole episode was gonna be like this

I wanted to post this a couple of days ago but the board went down, then this morning for some reason I couldn't paste the link and I was in too much of a rush to figure out why!

But Wonder Showzen is great! I can't believe they've managed to almost maintain the formula for an entire extra season and manage to be arguably funnier than the first.

The new Tom Goes to the Mayor should be great too. I wish I had more Stella and Arrested Development to look forward to but WHAT CAN YOU DO.

there was this surly personality-less hipster kid who whenever tyler came on screen would complain loudly, and his complaints would typically last longer than the actual sketch, like when it cuts to just tyler going "TYLER" he'd be all like FUCK THIS KID HES ANNOYING

So how close is this to The Actual Show. I want to know as it isnt being shown in canada.

Very close, the actual first episode used pretty much all the Letter N footage, the hot dog skit (they changed a few lines). The Q&A is different on the first episode, they reshot a bunch of it with different kids giving some of the same answers. Also the Unicorn cartoon they used in a later episode. They also remodeled the Chauncey puppet a little (the yellow guy you see at the end - this is actually a short version of the pilot that doesnt include the opening theme and some other sketches. The Funny Not Funny skit is pretty much the same, except they scattered a few of the little bits of footage into more than one "FUNNY NOT FUNNY" segments (along with new stuff).

The actual show is also a little faster paced.

The first episode is great. As a whole, Wonder Showzen has it's moments. Anything with the kids/puppets is usually funny. A lot of the parodies are worthwhile... but it seems to have started to drop in quality.

David Cross is unfunny as fuck on that show and from what I can see they seem to be giving him and the pretend redneck crew more time, which is not a good thing.

It's starting to become ironic in ways it isn't intending to be, although whether the writers or actors are aware of this and think they're being clever/cute by doing so isn't really clear.

(Also, related but unrelated: does anyone remember "the DAMN SHOW", with Yucko the clown, the homeless people, etc.?)
