I was going to say, but I was too much of a pussy. But yeah, the world is overpopulated as it is, and one more child brought into this world that isnt loved doesn't help.
You're the reason why we have welfare.

I suspect you are joking, but the US pretty much went into a "welfare state", after Franklin Roosevelt using deficit spending to bring the US out of the Great Depression era.

Honestly, not only would it be hard to keep your balance while standing on your head but trying to relax your bowels while your stomach muscles are tense could prove to be difficult and, although I can see why the premise of shit coming out of his ass and running down his front and back could be amusing, I resent the implication that he's a world class athlete capable of performing such a feat. World class athletes work years, not taking steroids or making jokes, they are very serious and they can't fuck around in their line of work, and to sit here and listen to you degrade them with your talk of invertible-elimination is just an outright shame not to mention disrespectful for all that they've done for the world.

I don't know guys I know some pretty horrible parents and age or aging hasn't really helped them at all. Clearly someone selfish enough that their greatest concern about the pregnancy is that they don't get to have sex is probably selfish enough to make a horrible parent, though.
I've never been good at knowing what size and weight babies are supposed to be when they are born. i think that's a woman thing, men don't have an inherent care for babies or baby lore. Women are practically born reading pregnancy magazines.

This reminds me of the family that lives next door to us, actually. A seventeen year old guy ended up getting this woman's daughter, sixteen, pregnant. I think there were two babies, but something didn't split right. Only one of everything...heart, liver, every vital organ. So they both were inevitably going to end up dead.
The mother, sixteen, hears this and bursts into tears. The grandmother, a woman of forty-something-or-other, goes to her daughter to console her. The father sheepishly mutters "So...how soon 'till we can make another mistake?"
And they're still together

Half your fault? How about both of you carry 100% of the blame? You both should have been smarter, and you both are responsible for what happened, but since both or you could have said "no", you are both fully responsible for what happened.

if you somehow have a quality that doesn't show thru in your posts on this message board, and you actually will be a good parent, then hooray. but I still think y'all should've waited a little longer before babying up the place because that would have added more financial and emotional stability to your future household >:

1: I-Mockery
2: She IS a parent, and her parental, let alone her human, instincts kick in when she sees a situation where a child can/will be done irreparable damage.
3: You're a cunt.

A girl I ate lunch with last year had her baby this summer, he's so cute :D
I told my brother about it and he said that happened a lot at the alternative school, kids brought in their babies to show off to the class.
To say that a child would be automatically fucked up if raised by teen parents is like saying single-parent kids will be fucked up :(

because parenting isn't about just changing diapers and feeding food but also about sharing wisdom with them so that as they grow they will be responsible and mature and be capable of making good decisions for their age, you literally shape their personality and what the rest of their life will be like. basically, you're trying to make someone everything you're not and everything you didn't have. I'm pretty sure that's the goal of any good parent, there's two inherent problems here though 1: your parents are going to help raise the child 2: you have no inherent wisdom or lifeknowledge by which to raise them. Your child will be raised to be just as confused about life as you are.
Immortal Goat

you have no inherent wisdom or lifeknowledge by which to raise them. Your child will be raised to be just as confused about life as you are.
See, Shifty? This is the NUMBER ONE REASON as to why you will be a bad parent.
You haven't done anything with your life. You're not even finished school. You don't even know if you really like this girl enough to spend the next few decades with her. Teenage relationships are meaningless, and if you were older you'd know that. You have NO experience whatsoever with anything.
And guess what? You'll be too busy changing diapers to do anything with your life for the forseeable future, and when the time comes that you might be able to accomplish something else, you'll be too accustomed to doing nothing and THAT is what your kid will learn.
maggiekarp
Aug 22nd, 2006, 05:54 PM
After all this bitching and moaning, what sort of solution do you guys propose? He leave the kid in the dumpster? Give it to a foster home?
He could let his folks raise it, sure, but that might screw the kid up more to learn his brother is his daddy than to have really young parents. And in the end, we don't know how the kid is gonna turn out! You can raise two children the same way and they can be completely different because of their personalities.
No one is completely prepared for parenthood. No adult has every bit of knowledge a child need to become a well-rounded, happy human. SOCIETY, folks. School? But everyone who has a baby, no matter the age or the background, has to do their best and raise the child as they see fit.
As a baby, all it really needs is love and attention (shelter, diaper changes, clothes). Just about any teen can give that if they try hard enough. And because of the added pressure to "do it right" for being a teen parent, he might do better than a normal adult.
As the baby grows, Shifty will no doubt grow, too. You guys seem to think he'll be a teen forever.
I can't say how the relationship between Shifty and the baby mommy will turn out. Lots of teen relationships are meaningless, sure, but there are tons of long-lasting, happy marriages that are between highschool sweethearts. Feh.
Now, show me the asshole who ISN'T confused by life >:

Ok i now understand what you guys are saying. and just like maggiekarp said you guys just gonna sit here and bitch me out and not atleast give me some help to raise it right?
Even more so, since (presumably) his father is young enough to be his brother.

Kids don't need a fucking friend, they have those in school. They need a parent. It's THAT mentality that fucks kids up more than anything else. You can never take a friend as seriously as you can a parent. Learn this now, or your kid will suck more than you do.

"what sort of solution do you guys propose?"
The solution where he develops good parenting skills and his kid doesn't end up being a little jerk, I guess :O
"You can raise two children the same way and they can be completely different because of their personalities. "
It has nothing to do with their personalities(I'm assuming yo u're talking about the babies "Personality"), personalities are formed around interaction with the family and enviroment, although there may be a few "individual" factors. It's also literally impossible to raise two children exactly the same way unless they are twins and born at the same time.
"He could let his folks raise it, sure, but that might screw the kid up more to learn his brother is his daddy than to have really young parents."
I don't really think it matters so much who his parents are but the type of enviroment his family creates, together, and the type of interaction the family has with the baby.
"As the baby grows, Shifty will no doubt grow, too. You guys seem to think he'll be a teen forever. "
Growing up doesn't grant maturity nor parenting skills :O
"Now, show me the asshole who ISN'T confused by life "
I'm not confused by life but I think showing you my asshole in this thread would be inappropriate :O

True that, the ghettoist whitetrashist family I've ever known has a mother that's best friends with them and doesn't believe in spanking them, even when they don't clean their room for a year and their room is disgustingly filfthy. including half eatten rotting melons and litter boxes that were never cleaned and thusly shit was covered with clothes. Oh and their beds were coated in sugar, and all of the silverware was in their bedroom.

Be friends with the kid. so that he tells you stuff, have an open relationship. be trusting of eachother. but still put your foot down when you half to. Dont bitch the kid out for screwing up, try to level with them and then if they do it again, bitch the kid out. Try to understand why there doing the things there doing instead of forcing punishment on them. thats the kind of parenting i would probally do. not the fucking way my parents raised my brother.

Are you in college yet? No, you aren't. Are you going to be able to afford college? Probably not. A baby IS a full time job. You'll be too busy dealing with that kid than you will anything else, and THEN you'll either fail or drop out.
Shifty, I honestly hope that you prove all of us wrong. Not for your sake, nor for the sake of your baby mama, but for the sake of the baby. If you somehow are able to pull a miracle out of your ass, then more power to you. But it seems you have a problem pulling anything out when it is beneficial to you, so I'm not holding out much hope.

NEXT TIME ILL TRY NOT TO EMBODY THE SUBTLE TRUTH OF REALITY WHEN I ASSESS A SITUATION!
I mentioned that twice in this thread, though :O
Just to insert some ranting though the purpose of reproduction is CULTURIZATION it's the only possible point I can imagine- besides "survival"-, IMPROVEMENT OF THE HUMAN SPECIES. Even simple things like good parenting skills and carrying over little things you've learned in life is part of CULTURIZATION. That's what theoretically makes man so great, not his intelligence in itself but the culture behind them that stores all of his information and makes it readily accessible to everyone and their children, regardless of what happens to them. Without Culture information, skills and the other developments we have made would be lost from generation to generation, and nothing would ever improve.

As for the kid...We're in Alberta. Plenty of places to put the baby up for adoption and give it a shot at a decent life, which is obviously something that you can't give it. Yeah, not all teenage parents are bad, but you're a dumbass who's in way over his head.

I'm about to be an aunt twice over; my sister+husband (age 26/27) and my brother+sister-in-law (age 29/30) are both nervous as hell about being good parents.
This is like when someone gets their license at age 16, and they think they know everything there is to know about driving -until they get in an accident or such a close call that they need to contemplate life over again.
Shifty, I'm sure you're convinced you're going to be a great parent and all, but you just got your provisionals. You're in for a bumpy ride, son.
