iPod isn't a game you can play on NES, 8ullfrog :/

Also, Appletendo would be a sign of the end times :(

Cool! I'm the only person who will be happy if it happens! Of course, it won't ever happen because Nintendo wont sell themselfs and Apple is not a gaming company but I can still dream.

(And now you are all going to hate me, oh well)

executioneer
Jun 13th, 2006, 12:04 AM
that was what i was going for, yeah

that and the only thing they seem to do right is their handheld devices (not counting nunchuck wireless controller)

I hate Apple with everything in me. Maybe it is because I've become so accustomed to Windows and PCs, but I find them to cater more towards children and the casual computer users.

I wasn't thinking about Nintendo at all when I wrote that.

I've decided that Macs are pretty awesome. In my cluster of 8 in the dorms (2 people to 4 rooms, this way you can have a mental picture of how I spent the last 9 months living) across this last school year one guy was an art major who did some fancy shit with a mac, and another was just a mac dude who had 3 macs set up--a laptop, some fancy desktop one that he rigged to work with cable tv, and an old one with orgeon trail, odell down under, etc. Anyway, I never really used macs and when I started to I realized they're simplified in use for anyone, but they're really a lot more solid than most other computers you can get. A lot like nintendo.

Fathom Zero
Jun 13th, 2006, 02:03 AM
Yeah, they always work. But nothing is really particularly hard to do.
No challenge. I'm a number-crunchy kind of guy.

i just don't see the point in owning a simplified-interface device that is MORE expensive, is all

and that's where the nintendo-apple comparison falls apart, since nintendo's been generally cheaper than all its competitors across-board for the past five years or so

i just don't like the fruity new controllers, and apple's brought cross-platform compatibility in way too late and at too high a price for that to sell me on them

Eternal Darkness, Resident Evil 1 and 4, Metroid Prime 1 and 2, Wind Waker, Tales of Symphonia, MGS Twin Snakes, Smash Brothers Melee, Fire Emblem, Pikmin 2, Rogue Squadron 2, Paper Mario, Warrior Within (the gamecube version was by far the best >:), and a bunch of other games that I don't have time to look up.

I can't find Twin Snakes anywhere. ;(

Guitar Woman
Jun 14th, 2006, 12:25 PM
The easiest way to get it these days is off the interweb. But it's not a must-have if you've played the first MGS, so don't pay anything over 20 dollars for it.

the_dudefather
Jun 14th, 2006, 01:31 PM
yeah and grey fox's voice isnt as cool :(

and if you have a gamecube, get eternal darkness for the love of Chattur’gha

Fathom Zero

Eternal Darkness is easily the best game on the Gamecube. I saw it for $8.99 at Gamestop the other day. I should've picked it up. :(

Juttin
Jun 14th, 2006, 05:58 PM
Actually, I like the semi-new versions of old Apple II software, like Oregon Trail and Lemmings. The ones that were redone to look/play better in 1996-1998

Also, GW is right, Twin Snakes is something you should rent at the most, because if you've beaten MGS 1, you'll probably beat this in about 6 hours at the most.

I have Eternal Darkness. I've already played through it with Ulyaoth and now I'm doing Chattur'gha. I want to play with Xel'lotath cuz she and the main character are voiced by the same person. :eek

Too bad Lemmings started off on the Amiga.

I was gonna post something sarcastic about how every game out these days is from something else and it doesn't invalidate its existence on non-native platforms,

but it's a lot easier to dub you a faggot and call it a day.

Amiga, Apple, whatever. I remember playing the crappy looking Lemmings and Oregon Trail with bad mechanics on Apple II.

Or You just talking about all the different characters you become?

At the beginning of the game, at the end of Pious' sequence, you have a choice between three artifacts to choose from that determines the outcome of the entire rest of the game and what the final boss is.

The red claw thing = Chattur'gha
The little squid thing = Ulyaoth
The green angelish thing = Xel'lotath

plus, if you finish the game on all three paths you get a special ending

Eternal Darkness is one of the best games the Gamecube has to offer. The graphics are superb if you take into account that it was supposed to be for the N64. You can find it at any GameCrazy for like 8 bucks. :eek

one of these days i AM going to buy a gamecube so i can play the fun games on it, but i seriously doubt i'm ever going to be interested in the new nintendo system

Emu
Jun 15th, 2006, 06:58 PM
The Gamecube is srsly my favorite system out of all of the current-gen ones. It has the best controllers, some of the best graphics, and definitely the best games. There just aren't that many redeeming games on the PS2 that couldn't have been done better on the GC. (Silent Hills 2-4 especially. I would love to have those on GC.)

Is it just me or is the PS2 one of the shoddier systems out there right now? I recently bought a bunch of Playstation games off of Amazon and atleast halve of them will not work in my Playstation 2 without a huge hassle.

On another note my brother recently bought God of War brand new from Gamestop, went to play it on his slim PS2 and the system wouldn't start, the power would come on but the screen would stay black. He messed around with the plugins and what not for like an hour before he gave up and infuriated, declared the system broken. An hour later he threw a game in to see what would happened and the system started without a hitch, so then I tried God of War out on my older PS2 and it works like a charm, it seems for some reason God of War will not play on the newer PS2's which is goofy as hell.

I've had two PS2s thus far. the first was of the original design and the only reason it broke was because my roommate was drunk and knocked it off of my entertainment center. it never had any problems playing any games or movies and would probably still be working today. my second and current PS2 is a slim model. I've had no problems playing ANY games, including God of War. it does, however, have some difficulty playing certain DVDs. so is it a shoddy system? not really.

I got mine in (I think) 2002, for Christmas. In spite of being pissed on by my dog, stepped on, kicked, and sitting next to a magnetic sub-woofer in my room for nearly a month, it still works damn near perfect.

I hear the slim ones are hunks of shit, though.

camacazio
Jun 15th, 2006, 08:25 PM
You can drop an N64 off a scyscraper and it'll still work.

King Hadas
Jun 15th, 2006, 08:29 PM
The Playstation games not working on my PS2 is kind of understandable since it's pretty beaten up (being a clumsy oaf I've dropped it atleast three times just moving it around) otherwise it works pretty swell but that God of War thing still throws me for a loop, we tried it out in my sisters slim PS2 and it did the same thing, it's a Greatest Hits version but I don't see how that could have any effect on how well it plays, maybe my brother just picked up a wonky copy.

my playstation 2 does not read dvds if they are v. scratchy but i give it a break because i've had it since the first day they were available in stores (part of the reason i bought it was b/c i didn't have a DVD player at the time :x)
