Okay, so I've put off buying this because I heard about the framing issues with the Widescreen version on discs 2 and 3. I had heard that the studio (can't recall which one off hand) was releasing a new edition in February or March that would be corrected, and they were going to replace all the fucked up discs for people who wanted to send them in and get replacements.

I've tried to find accurate, updated information regarding this boxed set, because I want to buy it, but I want the corrected discs and I don't want to deal with the hassle of sending them back in the mail. Does anybody know if the corrected version HAS in fact been released? If so, how would I tell the difference between that and an old copy that has been sitting on the shelf for two months?

I have uncorrected disks and I couldn't tell anything was wrong. But apparenlty it ruins it in such a way that it ruins certain visual gags and stuff.

I have yet to send in for corrected disks, which came out like a month ago.

I have it and it's barely noticable. About 3 or 4 shots from what I can tell. The part where the futuristic jacket tightens by itself on Marty in Part II is kind of messed up.

Yeah, I've heard that there's not a lot that you'd notice too much of, just the jacket gag and maybe one or two other things. But I figure I've waited this long, I may as well be certain I'm getting the corrected version when I get it. So can we confirm that that version IS the one out in stores right now?

Apparently the barcode will have a "V2" on it. Look for that.

Is it even worth the hassel if I already have it?

I doubt the barcode would have a "V2" on it because bar codes do not have letters and there would be no room to put letters on there.

I actually picked it up at Target tonight, I saw it with a new barcode sticker on the shrink wrap covering up the old one, and it came with a keychain that I have never seen before stuck inside the shrink wrap. So I figured it must have been a new edition. In any event, I guess I'll find out as soon as I watch it.

That isn't the new edition. Universal said in an official release that "V2" would be on the packaging.

Can you by any chance tell me where to find this release?

You can't get it yet. Universal is still trying to get the new DVDs right. I guess it took longer than they expected.

I was referring to the press release, actually!

All I can say is, I bought the first edition on DVD, I bought it the day it came out, and none of the problems that were discussed earlier occured. It worked just fine for me.

So maybe I just didn't notice, maybe there are bad copies of the disk, or perhaps it's just not compatable with some DVD players. I can't really buy the press release because mine works fine.

You just didn't notice. These framing issues occur on every single disc that was printed for 2 and 3. It's barely noticable, that's why no one really gives a shit.

Proto> I can't find the release. :/ It was on dvdfile.com before.
