Hi Rongi :) I thought I would be nice and look it up for you on the internet, but all I found was Anime porn :/

Tactics ogre and front mission. Neither one of them are as good(the job system in fft rules) but they are still okayish. I like tactics ogre alot but it was setup kind of weird. it's still cool though, because you can have 10 people fighting at a time instead of 3 or 5. The tactics ogre on the 64 might be better, though.

There's phantom brave but that game seems like it was made by some asshole on the internet, it feels like it's full of holes. If I think of any others I'll post again.

I'm sure Disgaea, Phantom Brave, and La Pucelle Tactics are all made by the same developer.

I haven't played either of them, but I heard the Disgaea series and La Pucelle Tactics are fun to play. :[

Makai Kingdom is kind of like FFT but less structured, and it's very easy to find. It's oodles of fun. FFT Advanced is like FFT also (duh), but the judges are annoying. You may want to look into Ring of Red on the PS2, it's like if Front Mission fucked FFT and made a lumpy, weird baby.

Disgaea 2 will require no prior knowledge of the first game to enjoy. The story is almost entirely unrelated.

Also, for the record, Disgaea is my favorite game of all fucking time, if that helps you want to buy it more. FFT held that spot for many years, up until i got a hold of Disgaea and did not stop playing it for something like 8 months.

In Tactics Ogre, your troops die permanently.

At the moment the Best games I can think of are Front Mission 4(ps2) Fire Emblem, the GBA Zone of the enders game, and Advance Wars(gba)

Your troops die permanantly in Tactics Ogre if they die and turn into a card/treasure without being ressurected or the battle being beaten before they turn into a treasure or a card. I thought final fantasy tactics was the same way with the crystals?

Phantom brave and all those other games were made by the same person, but I haven't played the others :( I just know I got kind of tired with some aspects of phantom brave. I did enjoy some parts of it though.

Disgaea was great, and has tons of replay value if you feel like dedicating 200+ hours of levelling to defeat Baal and Prinny Baal :x
From what I've seen, Disgaea 2 is pretty much identical to the first, minus the story.

Otherwise, pretty much any other strategy RPG made by Atlus/Nippon Ichi is good, but they all feel like the same :/

Fire emblem is pretty fun. I even liked the one on Gameboy, b ut did they ever translate the fireemblems on SNES? I remember having the first ten lines of one of the first ones with the flying horse guy translated.

Guitar Woman

the gameboy ones are remakes of the SNES ones, and the NES game (the one with marth and the flying horse guy (who is a girl, btw)) has never been translated. Which sucks, because that one is my favorite. :(

Final Fantasy Tactics Advanced was fun and all, but no where near as awesome as FFT

i bought Disgaea off ebay for 111 dollars ( the money is going to the guy's wife who has cancer, so i dont feel TOO bad about spending all that money )

Hey Pub Lover remember that time you and a bunch of others got yourselves banned in an act of rebellion to stick it to the man and such?

How'd that go?

First of all, did he have any proof.

Secondly, $111 doesn't even phase the amount of money one would need for operations alone.

Wowly fuck, I heard Disgaea had become somewhat rare but that's crazy, I guess I'd better stop recommending it to people.

It'll be funny if you hate the game. The concept of it always deterred me, and there's no way in hell I'd pay that much for a copy of a game I'm intending to play.

Also, hahaha cancer.

Shining Force? Or was it Phantasy Star? I forget, but one of those two are the strategy kind.

Shining Force. Phantasy Star was a full-on rpg.

You can download disgaea online for free(not that I'm insulting you for buying it, just letting people know there's options to circumvent the rarity) then burn it and have yourself a copy :O

Rongi

Are you talking about downloading it for free legally or through torrents?

kahljorn

With the prices you pay for disgaea you could mod your ps2 :O

I'm talking about downloading it free... legally. I thought companies did that online or something to promote their goods :|

executioneer
Aug 29th, 2006, 10:13 PM
you should try "bit torrents" i hear they're a 100% legal way to get your favorite movies and games for free :eek

kahljorn
Aug 29th, 2006, 10:28 PM
Bittorrent is very popular among the gaming industry for promoting their goods and keeping their old games available for the gaming community.

Fathom Zero
Aug 29th, 2006, 10:55 PM
Yeah, like demos and such. They wouldn't make a full release of a game and put it out on a torrent if they thought the game had any chance of making a profit out on the market.

Vanguard Bandits

" They wouldn't make a full release of a game and put it out on a torrent if they thought the game had any chance of making a profit out on the market."

That's crazy talk man do you even know what you're talking about? Blizzard is a good example of this policy it's called the JAUNDICK principle based on their(now unfortunately dead) marketing expert Fenton Jaundick(who is also considered important in sociological fields and certain economical philosophy circles). You see, he had this idea that by spreading the games around more where even poor people would get them he would create a CULTURAL REVOLUTION of gaming where gaming would be the new religion(essentially, he was a devout christian but he believed that videogames could reach everyone and be on everybody's mind) and it would be SO popular that everybody would buy lots of games because everybody is GAME CRAZY!

Everybody owes their love of video games to Fenton Jaundick.

Fathom Zero
Aug 30th, 2006, 04:25 PM
Unless, those who are getting the free games have no money to buy games. In which case, those putting out free games will probably lose money.

kahljorn
Aug 30th, 2006, 06:19 PM
Clearly you should bring this to Mr. Jaundic, except he's dead. Instead you might consider writing to whoever owns his intellectual property, perhaps they could make a revision.

You could also consider contacting Blizzard directly to let them know about this so they don't lose anymore money.

Fathom Zero
Aug 30th, 2006, 06:46 PM
And what exactly is Blizzard offering, besides the WoW trial?

kahljorn
Aug 30th, 2006, 07:23 PM
Copies of WoW, Starcraft, Warcraft(all expansions etc.) diablo, diablo 2.. pretty much every game they've ever made is available through these types of promotional online giveaways. Blizzard was just an EXAMPLE since they are the essential prototype of this form of marketing.

Fathom Zero
Aug 30th, 2006, 07:27 PM
Wait, wait, wait a sec. Do you mean "giveaways" or "free downloads for all who want them"?

Ninjavenom
Aug 30th, 2006, 07:55 PM
Disgaea's not free from Nippon Ichi. Unless i missed your sarcasm. However, the strategy guide is free from whoever the hell manufactures it. You can download it in PDF format :o

kahljorn
Aug 31st, 2006, 02:53 PM
Well i mean they are giving them away as downloads as such there is technically an infinite amount they could give away. of course, mr. jaundic stressed the inherent finites within the downloading system.

To be honest I don't know much else about Mr. Jaundic his books are really sparse it's more like articles and letters that they have from him.

I'm just kidding. I'm talking about downloading video games through torrents. That's why I put '...legal' to imply suspiscious motives. I was HIDING part of what I was saying. Do I look like a mutterer?

Fathom Zero
Aug 31st, 2006, 06:11 PM
