Is anyone else watching?

I'm watching the Dolphins @ Steelers game.

Dolphins 16 > Steelers 14 as of this moment.
This is a close game, but it shouldn't be. Come on! It's the friggin' Dolphins! Who loses to the Dolphins? Oh yeah. That's right. The Patriots Dynasty loses to the Dolphins. The Steelers don't. I know that much.

I have a feeling that this will be a rough season on Pittsburgh.

Your thoughts?

RUN LIKE THE WIND, CHARLIE BATCH!

Pittsburgh retakes the lead with a MASSIVE run by Charlie.

20 > 16 in the Steelers' favor.

Anyway, weren't two brothers facing off in the Dolphins/Steelers game? I recall something along those lines.

God damn refs called the game last year. WE SHOULD OF WON. >:

Naw, that's the upcoming Colts and Giants game, I think it's Colts @ Giants. Don't quote me on that, though. It is between quarterbacks Eli and Peyton Manning, Giants and Colts respectively.

And the Seahawks came entirely out of left field for me last season. I can't remember what they did to get so good or if it was just a stroke of luck. But I did know that corrupt refs had things to do with Pitt. winning the SB last year. I was still rooting for them all the way, though. Here we go, Steelers, Here we go. *Clap* *Clap*

Seahawks just beat the Lions in the most boring game I have ever seen. God damn, we lost our best left side blockers, and Hasselbeck was playing slightly injured, and NOT A SINGLE GOD DAMN TOUCH DOWN IN THE ENTIRE GAME.

Niether team got within 10 yards of a touch down. And the game was won through ONLY FIELDGOAL KICKS. 9 to 6. It was Sad. the Seahawks had better kick it up a notch.

Bears at Vikes this weekend... Bears scare me. :wah

WhiteRat
Sep 22nd, 2006, 12:59 PM
The Bears? Eh, it's a North game so anything goes. I'm still not sold on Grossman yet. He has the all of the physical skills to run a big game but the mental part is lacking, me thinks. Maybe I haven't gotten over the fact that he was cocky as fuck in college. Who knows.

But at the risk of being labeled a homer, my predictions of the Vikings/Bears game is this...

Vikings 24 - Bears 13

I'm banking on a strong Vikes D and a solid but poor when it counts Bears Offense.

timrpgland
Sep 22nd, 2006, 01:12 PM
I'm not entirely sold on Rex either but the Bears are considering last year they let Orton go back on the bench after their great run. I am sold on the Bears defense once again though and it's going to be a tough go for the Vikes no matter how well the Vikes defense plays.

I'm anticipating a very low scoring game and I am a homer so I'll always say the Vikes are going to win (yes, even if it's a nfc championship game against the Giants)....

13-10 Vikes

WhiteRat
Sep 22nd, 2006, 01:17 PM
Hey, the Giants intercepted Culpepper's plays...or maybe they found our playbook the night before...Sadly, those are the excuse that the Vikings fans that I now use to justify such a poor outing. I point the blame for that debacle squarely at Denny "the sherrif" Green.

Holy Shit in a flaming Pooper Scooper

Seahawks are pounding the Giants in the Ass.

42 Seahawks to 17 Giants in the 4th Quarter.

I imagine the Seahawks at this time are taking a lazie-faire attitude about everything. So, the giants might make a couple more points, but eh. I won't hold my breath if I was a giant fan.

The Broncos were almost division champions last year, this year they're just securing that they WILL be in the big game.

Also, what about college? Iowa is undefeated, again. Even beat the Cyclones in the CyHawk game.

WhiteRat

After years of devoting most of my time to the NFL, I can safely say that I enjoy college football much more than the pros. There are just so many teams to root for and so many rivalries and big games to watch.

This weekend myself and a few friends will be in attendance for the Minnesota-Michigan game. Last year the Golden Gophers beat the Wolverines for the first time since 1986. A repeat of last year won't happen because we (the gophs) lost 3 all-americans including Patriots number 1 pick Laurence Maroney. I expect the Wolverines to blow us out by at least 21 points, but i'll be so shitfaced during the game that I won't even care.

Tonight I went to the Minnesota-Michigan game and even though I saw my beloved gophers fall 28-14, I still got wasted and enjoyed a pretty good game. And due to getting seats right at field level, my friend and I were on ESPN frantically flailing our limbs about in an intoxicated fashioned. That's the closest i've ever been to the action and I must say it was fun as hell.

What a great day for upsets in the college world. Vandy takes out Georgia(which to me isn't a shock given the 'Dogs lethargic offense) and Indiana squeaks by Iowa. Also, Adrian Peterson is done for the year and probably will not return to Oklahoma next year, instead opting for the NFL Draft.

My beloved Gophers got thier asses handed to them by 'Sconnie putting them at 2-5 for the season. Frustrating times, I tell ya.

As far as him only taking dance, he was redshirted his freshman year which means he is granted an extra year of playing elegibility. In order for him to remain enrolled in school and play on the team he had to take at least one class. So he took dance, who cares.
And the celebrity status issue, he played at SoCal and won a Heisman. Of course he's going to be treated like a celebrity. Had he played at let's say Washington State or even Texas, he wouldn't of gotten that type of exposure.

I like the roofie slipping jock comment, too. Were you perhaps stuffed in a trash can by a football player in high school?

MSU is one the most inconsistent teams around. One day they'll bring a solid team to the field that will go toe to toe with a top team and they'll get blown out by a bottom feeder the next. Minnesota, we just lack talent this year. With only 9 seniors and one of the best defensive players (Trumaine Banks) out for the year I expect Stanton to tear up our D. But we're desperate (as is MSU) for a win so really in my mind it's a toss-up as to who's going to keep thier bowl hopes alive. I'm going to play the homer card and say Minnesota 24-MSU 20.

I will always be a Vikings fan no matter how bad they do, but this year they have taken a back seat to the U of M. I guess with a new coaching staff and new schemes on both sides of the ball I don't expect much out of them this year. Plus, as long as we make it into the playoffs that's all I really care about anyway.

College football, on the other hand, has no playoffs and even games in the 1st or 2nd game of the season can be just as important as the final game. To me it's a lot more exciting and makes each game a must watch (unless your team is Temple, then you won't be watching at all).

I guess the only bright side of this is that even though we had a collapse of epic proportions we didn't get blown out, which was what most experts and fans expected. If it makes you laugh even harder, this game ruined a damn good week I was having and for the first time in my life ever i'm embarrassed to be a Gopher fan.

I love how the media is supposedly "stunned" that Boise State pulled off the win. Honestly, I'm not the least bit surprised. For one, the Sooners aren't THAT great this year and two, Boise plays some damn good football. Granted they play in the WAC, but if you put them in the MWC or the Big 12, this same team goes 11-1, maybe 10-2.

I may not like football, but I appreciate the annhilation of Michigan after a month of "we're good enough for the fucking BCS Championship game what the fuck we got robbed we're too fucking good for the goddamned Rose Bowl".

U of M fans are the worst, they might as well be anime fans >:

Did you guys ever watch "Playmakers" on ESPN? It was a fun show about the off-the-field antics of the players of the Carolina Cougars.

I liked it bunches and I really wanted it to go past season 1 but the NFL didn't like it so ESPN got rid of it.:(

im from oklahoma so i think the sooners are shit every year! and last night was one of the better games i've watched, everyone was so thrilled when we got ahead and that was even after we finally tied it up in the 4th quarter. and then boise scored with like 30 seconds left? but then the overtime bummed us all out :(

But we were bummed the whole game :(

You and me both. Michigan fans are just as shitty as Miami fans.

I went to the Minnesota-Michigan game a few months ago and the cocky bastards had the balls to invade the Minnesota student tailgating area and start talking shit. Assholes.

Last year's game had hype because both teams were undefeated and you had three future top 10 picks playing. I agree though, it was one of the best games i've ever seen.

I can't see Florida going toe to toe with OSU for 4 quarters. The Buckeyes have too much talent on both sides of the ball and Chris Leak is a poopy head who is marred by inconsistent play.

OSU 27 - UF 17

How about them Pats?

To be honest, I don't see anyone being able to stop them from winning it all, especially after Brady carving Jacksonville up underneath like a Thanksgiving turkey and the "el foldo" of the Colts. It appears all of San Diego's talk about them knowing how to beat the Colts wasn't just bull after all, when you consider they beat them twice now this year.

I expect the Green Bay Packers and Pats will face off in what will likely be the highest rated Super Bowl to date.

I love how this thread magically appears at the END of the football season.

With the messed up season that was college football this year I would've figured that this thread would've popped up alot earlier.

Go Pats.

No worries over here. After that debacle against Texas Tech last year we fired our coach and implemented an entirely new offense and a new defense. The last coach left the cupboard bare as fare as talent so it's no surprise that we would struggle. I'll be honest when I say that I never thought we'd win 1 game, but shit happens I guess. We've been recruiting great high school players and with many players returning I predict we win at least 5 games next year.

Looks like we have our Super Bowl set. New England Patriots vs. the New York Giants.

I would like to see New England win it at this point. It would be kind of cool to see a 19-0 season for the first time ever.

Is it just me or is that something like every mom would say. My mom used to make declarations like that involving the Broncos. Then they would lose. The one year she didn't, they beat Green Bay.

Mom logic, what can you do?

Geggy

Pats 27
Giants 17

and that is my prediction for the final score in the superbowl. I was disappointed to see green bay lose. it would've been cool to see a rematch of pats vs packers from the 1996 superbowl in which brett favre and reggie white destroyed the pats. but the giants looks good, too, even without jeremy shockey. pats will take it all.

I love how everyone was bashing Maroney during the season for missing 4 games and that the Pats needed to draft McFadden. I would say judging from his last five performances that the Pats' running game is just fine.

Geggy
Jan 23rd, 2008, 11:05 AM
pats didnt have much of a running game in the start of the season, not that it mattered because of their passing game plans, the hurry up offense and their schemes have been phenomenal. i think other teams have underestimated their offense because several receivers like stallworth, gaffney and welker simply came out of nowhere and destroyed corner backs. but now that a lot of teams have figured out their offense tactics and started double teaming receivers especially moss, lawrence maroney has really stepped up big in the last few games when the running game was needed.

WhiteRat
Jan 23rd, 2008, 06:02 PM
I think you forgot to mention Chad Jackson. He's a gamechanger and a big reason why the Pats are on the verge of perfection.

What bothers me about all of the negative talk about the running game was that early to mid season the pundits were claiming that Maroney couldn't hack it and that last season's numbers were a result of splitting carries with Dillion. He was a damn good back in college (better than Marion Barber) and he's a damn good back in the NFL. It's just irks me that people are finally realizing this.
