fullmetal alchemist was pretty good for anime they stuck relatively close to the concepts of alchemy.
For example, the main character's dad hohenheim of the light was a real person by the name of Thephrastus Philipus Aureolis Bombatasus von Hohenheim, or more popularly known as Paracelsus. Most of the storyline/plot is based on relatively "real" ideas in alchemy...

What the hell are the Ultimate Avengers?

Its pretty much the first few issues of marvels "The Ultimates". Only without all of the realism and there are aliens. Also no Giant Man smacking his woman around. In the end theres a pretty sweet fight between everyone and the hulk.

The second one goes off on a random note to the country where the Black panther is from, and has them fighting a nazi alien. The Second one is better for action, but they totaly sideline the hulk.

For those not in the know, it stars Luke Perry and Malcom Jamal Warner (what a pair!) in the near future where everyone who had hit puberty already was wiped out by a deadly virus. It was on Showtime and was canceled during either during or after the 2nd season (not quite sure on exactly when).
