View Full Version : The Pluto conspiracy

Can anyone confirm this? I'm not sure if I believe it but it wouldn't surprise me if it is true...
Fact: Pluto was recently stripped of its status as a planet, and assigned an asteroid number.
Conspiracy: All new editions of school science textbooks will now have to be printed, sold and distributed. The International Astronomical Union is in bed financially with publishers of these books. One of the largest publishers of school textbooks in the United States is McGraw-Hill. Who owns McGraw-Hill? Halliburton.

It's kind of sad that it's gotten to the point where I can't tell if you're serious or not.

Nope. The conspiracy's all wrong. The International Astronomical Union is ACTUALLY in bed with the FBI. Naming Pluto is only the first step in Operation Switch. The next stage is to name Pluto a moon. That way, if any of these damned conspiracy theorists can prove that the we never landed on the moon, the government can say that they didn't land on OUR moon, but actually Pluto. Try to disprove that, conspiracites.

If it was max burbank who posted it, you'd probably do some fact checking and butt smooching.
This thread remind you of anything?

Ya it's in human nature to be skeptical, if not dismissive, of claims that are more outrageous than another but it doesn't necessarily make it untrue. I guess I will have to do some fact checking for myself and will post further if I find anything valid that collaborates with the pluto conspiracy in the original post. Only thing I know thus far is that many books written on subject of halliburton have been published by mcgraw-hill.

Yeah, a bunch of independent international scientists got together and decided to make an American company a bunch of money by having a big debate and a vote for a new standard (which had never actually been officially defined at all before).
You're such a tool, Geggy.

Haliburton owns Pluto and the rest of our solar system. I thought that was fact.

don't they come out with a new edition of textbooks nearly every year anyways despite if any facts have changed?
Emu
Nov 3rd, 2006, 04:05 PM
Yes, which I was going to bring up but you got to it first. They wouldn't release a new edition any sooner than they would've otherwise, and even still, OMFG THEY'RE GOING TO MAKE THE SAME AMOUNT OF MONEY THEY WOULD HAVE RELEASING A NEW EDITION IF PLUTO WAS STILL A PLANET. CONSPIRACY CONSPIRACY AAHGGHGHA :wank :wank :wank

I like how it can't be a conspiracy until Haliburton is behind it.

Finally gotten around to do a little investigation

You can check out second article posted in the link.
You can google 'halliburton' and 'businessweek' which the magazine is owned by the mcgraw-hill companies, whose stock is controlled by halliburton. Most of the article written on halliburton is approved and published by mcgraw-hill who would never, ever put them in a negative light and alway march their orders. Will look into it more later on

Seriously, why does it matter if haliburton owns the textbook company? Couldn't the textbook company have pulled this conspiracy off on their own?

I've been lurking here for a long time, Geggy, and I was finally motivated to register and post just to tell you that you are an imbecile.
I've read a lot of ridiculous conspiracy theories of yours, but this one takes the cake. You, sir, are a tool.

Don't be logical. It takes a giant corporation lurking in the shadows and secretly manipulating every little bit of our lives to make it a conspiracy.
But honestly, this is a fairly idiotic conspiracy theory. I don't see what Haliburton would gain from this change because, as has been said before, they'll basically be making the same amount of profit as they have previously. There's no logical basis to proclaim this a conspiracy.

I am a man who has chosen to suffer through numerous idiotic conspiracy theories in the name of entertainment.
Halliburton is going to make loads of money whether Pluto is a planet or a moon, so it's pretty much pointless to call it a conspiracy. Unless you're a paranoid delusional moron who believes everything he reads.

I know how to use Google. I can also use Lexus/Nexus and a fucking library.
But none of those tells me what government officials owning stock in a company making a flu vaccine has to do with Pluto.
And did you read the part where Rumsfeld recused himself from any desicions regarding a flu pandemic?
And where is that appology?

Hey Geggy, I think a mockumentary called "The Pluto Conspiracy" would be a lot of fun. All of this shit could be in it-- Haliburton text books, bird flu from Mars, and one guy who repeatedly says "sigh, can't you use google!!?"
Would make thousands.

I don't think we're gullible because we aren't as good at connecting the dots as you seem to be. There's a big difference between a Joe Six-Pack "George W. Bush is an intelligent and remarkably coherent man" type of gullible and a Cindy Sheehan "I read an article on Salon so it MUST be true" type of gullible.
Guess which one you are?
