LAUNCH TITLES
Xbox/Halo - Pretty good, then it sucked shit when better things came out. Got it for the PC.
Gamecube/Luigi's Mansion - That was the only thing that came out at launch? Wow, gay.
PS2/Metal Gear Solid 2 - I think it was delayed but I didn't want to talk about Tony Hawk. I got it when they rereleased it. That way I could talk about skateboarding, but not talk about Tony Hawk.

Jackie Chan's STUNTMAN!

I recently purchased Jackie Chan's Stuntmaster. For the first few levels it was novel to hit people with fish & chairs while spastically falling to the floor, but soon the platform element of the game began to emerge, leaving me frustrated and lambasting game-world architects for their heavy drug intake.

Stretch Panic - Great F'n game, only $5. The physics of the environment and scarf still blow me away.
Twisted Metal Black - Need I say anything at all?

Okami for ps2 was pretty hot! Emily was kinda far into that before the Wii came along and dominated my spare time :M

I heart Shadow of the Colossus. Though it needs to be said that the stoyline was just faggy, not "minimalist".

I have a luigi's mansion poster in my room. but it was part of that stupid ad campain that nintendo was doing when the system first came out. Its this kid hidden under his blanket with a flashlight and he is in a clear box. It looks more like a horror movie ad.
you also reminded me about metal gear solid 2 substence with SOLID SNAKE SKATEBOARDING

Ill get to the last few systems eventually
PS:
- Better 3rd party console games than Nintendo for the next ten years (See next few points)
- Komani:Metal Gear Solid, Silent Hill, Castlevania SOTN
- Capcom: Street Fighter Alpha 3 (no one has made a better 2D fighter), Breath of Fire III, Strider I & II
- Squaresoft (fuck the merge bettween Square and Enix. LONG LIVE SQUARE)- Every Final Fantasy after 6. Zeno Gears, Parasite Eve
-Namco: Klonoa (the cuteness), the Tekken series
-Anyone that thinks Twisted Metal II sucks can kiss my ass
-I can play CDs on my PS and look at cool visual effects!
-Demo disks (because I couldnt afford games back in the day :( )
-Crash Bandicoot!
-People calling the Playstation the "PSX", despite the fact that "Experimental" was dropped from the title.
-Early PS models overheating!
N64
-Star Wars: Shadow of the Empire
-Riding on the turtle shell in Super Mario 64
-Superman 64................

didnt own a ps1 until after my n64, so my views are a little biased towards nintendo. ive owned a ps2 for some time, but never feel "comfortable" playing it, if that makes any sense.
favorite current gen games on ps2:
GTA series
Final Fantasy X and XII
mgs2 and mgs3 are excellent games
dance dance revolution max. the first DDRMAX is 10x better than DDRMAX2
gamecube:
smash bros. melee
animal crossing
resident evil 1 and 4
if you must get a THPS game get tony hawk's underground (tony hawk games are fun but repetitive and i only like to play them on the cube) :x
viewtiful joe
paper mario: thousand year door BUT if you can get the first one on N64 it blows this one out of the water, and super mario RPG on SNES beats them both combined
final fantasy crystal chronicles always sparked my interest, but to play you need a GBA and a GC/GBA connecter for each player. >:
xbox:
halo 1 and 2 ofcourse
fable
spider-man 2 is fun until the novelty wears off
xmen legends

Wait, I'm lost on which generation we're on. Are we talking about the fourth, or the generation before the current generation which is before the NEW GENERATION OF GAMING!
He brings up a good question that I've been wondering myself for awhile: We had the 8-bit era, the 16, then the 32, but what the hell will we call the PS2 Xbox Gamecube era? They all have different "bits", whatever those are, so we can't go by that anymore, right?
The "XcubeStation 2" era perhaps?
nah, too long :(
Emu
Nov 27th, 2006, 04:45 PM
i think we should just call it the Box era because all of the consoles are shaped like boxes except the X-Box.

128 bits
I thought I read somewhere back at the beginning of the last-generation that they weren't all 128-bit, sadly. I believe it was the gamecube, but I could be wrong.

Hate to break it to you, James, but PS3 IS last-gen. It's a PS2 with better graphics. Same with XBox 360. I've played both, and so far, the only reason I want a 360 is because it will run PC games my PC can't. I wouldn't pay $100 for the PS3. At least not now.
As for actual last gen systems, I have all 3. My favorite games in no particular order for all three are:
Eternal Darkness: Provided hours of entertainment with the sanity effects alone, not to mention the top-notch voice acting driving along the extremely creative storyline.
Legacy of Kain: Defiance: Story, gameplay, voice acting. Need I say more?
Ico: One of the best games I've ever played. Made me think the whole way through, and it made me care about these mostly silent characters. Charmed me from the opening scene.
Wind Waker: Zelda.
Fable: Almost Zelda, but not quite.
Devil May Cry: Badassery galore.
Resident Evil 4: Scary as hell, controlled wonderfully (FINALLY), and visually amazing.
Metroid Prime: Successfuly took a sidescroller into the first person without it feeling like a seperate series.
That's all. As for the Wii being faggoty, have you touched the damned thing, or is this you knee-jerk reaction to Nintendo finally getting back the marketshare that was going towards Sony's shoddily built systems?

To be fair, I wasn't the one who'se first post claimed any consoles were faggoty, James. How about you take the dual-shock out of your ass for a minute and stop being a whiny bitch. kthx
EDIT: And I actually think that for the most part, people WERE talking about last-gen titles. Looks like you're just cranky.

I'm pretty sure James was trying to elicit the same reaction he's pretending to be upset over, ig. That's why I slipped my ps3 hatred in there SURREPTITIOUSLY.
Although to call ps3 last gen is kinda retarded. By that logic, everything's last gen since we're all still using plastic.

Well, what I was trying to say was the fact that, as of right now, there aren't any PS3 games that really take advantage of the system, and therefor, the gaming experience is simply the same thing as last generation. That's really all.

I think Jamesman is living in a future world where consoles that have already come out are still next-gen as opposed to current-gen what with them being out currently, and therefore last-gen refers to the generation before this one, which to Jamesman was before the ones out now.
