I just got this for the PC a few days ago. It's really good.

Realism has taken a back seat in this latest game in the R6 series and you health has a similar system to halo and the newer COD games where you can't take much damage but if you take a few hits then duck for cover you will completley recover.
Talking of cover the game has a very similar system to Gears of War where you can press the right mouse button at any time and it will 'stick' you to whatever cover you are facing. This will take you to third person view and allow you to either blindly fire you gun over the cover or press a directional button to pop out and aim you gun properly.

The game uses the third incarnation of the Unreal engine (same as GoW) so expect high system requirements but at the same time you can also expect phenomenal visuals.

The physics and sound arn't bad either.

Gameplay and storyline are good (if unbelievable) and overall it's a very cool game.

Note: The game requires a videocard which supports shader model 3.0. Anything in the mid-high end of the Nvidia 6/7 series (http://www.slizone.com/object/slizone2_powerof3_home.html) should be fine and I believe the 1XXX series of ATI cards support it also. Perhaps even the X850 series.

Note Note: Even if your card does support SM3.0 dont expect to be running this game at high settings with anything less than an 8800 series card. My 7900GTX is having a few problems at 1280x800 with all options on at medium settings.

What are the multiplayer game modes like?

I'm considering buying the game for the MP (my current version is a pirate copy) but before when I've tried to play R6 multiplayer games I got bored really quickly.

I also have it for the 360.

I've only played the single player game but I played through the game. Just on regular, I haven't tried realistic. Anyway, the single player game is very enjoyable. I like how intuitive the whole control setup is for the 360. The game plays just right. The regen health system is a welcomed change imo. That might take away from some of the realism of the past but if you get over that, everything else (guns, etc) is pretty accurate to true life.

I'll be on Live tonight. I think tonight is the night that I take the multiplayer for a spin. I have to catch up and play multiplayer of all 3 of my new shooters. I always end up playing through the games first.

multiplayer is pretty awesome, its got a bunch of modes like co-op (the story missions or terrorist hunt), last man standing, deathmatch, bomb disposal, item retrieval and hostage rescue

Ive had this for a week or so, it was fucking TERRIBLE for random crashes and lockups I had one at least every 10 minutes of game play during run of the mill events such as breaking from cover. I was very close to getting fed up with the poor quality of the PC version. It has taken me about 2 days to beat the first level due to these crashes. But they released a new patch last weekend that fixed almost all of the bugs so far.

Now that I can actually play the game I have nothing but great things to say about it.

Also My online character
Le Pierre, the Frenchman commando

Looks shitty due to the file compression :(

Mine hasn't crashed once and I have yet to patch it. The game probably had a problem with your videocard. The latest unreal tech beats the shit out of most modern cards. Let alone previous gen.

I've gotta' get a legit copy for MP though.

I'm not sure why it had that problem

I'm running
AMD 3800X2 at 2.4Ghz
1BG of Ram
nVidia 7600GT KO 256MB Video Card.

all good stuff
I'm not gonna bother upgrading to a 1GB or 512 Video Card until at leas summer when theres an array of DX10 cards out there.

He is dumbass, but hes been taken off active duty and given a desk job (after they go to save Weber against orders in Lockdown)

So far the campaign is awesome, I'm just outside of a Chinese restaurant and am just fighting through Fremont Street.

I've had this game for a while, it's pretty neat. ;0

Metal, you might wanna try it on hamachi with some friends- the coop is especially fun, in particular terrorist hunt.

The best fun i've had in a computer game in recent weeks is terrorist hunt on Casino Vault with realistic difficulty and heavy enemies, it's awesome! ;D

I actually bought a cd-key for this game off ebay so i could create a custom character, although i'm yet to find a single online match that hasn't been laggy as hell ;<

If you guys are interested in getting some cheap retail games, have a look at http://zest.co.th, you can buy games real cheap- or if you already have a pirate copy, you can buy the cd-keys really really cheap. It's all legit too- and i think they have some 15% off your first purchase thing. I think it has to do with publishers releasing games really cheap in asia to combat piracy idk ;o

http://www.zest.co.th/www/main/detail.php?product_id=GME0000988&catagory=3

Vegas hasn't been released on it just yet, but it's got a planning price of 598 baht, which is about 17 USD. ;0

I wish the game had more guns like in previous Rainbow 6 games where there were like, 30+.

The guns that are in there are good though. My favourites to use are the MTAR rifle and the MP5 SMG. The Tactical scout is quit good too but I'd like it if I could have a silencer.
The pistols all seem to suck but I guess It's pretty fun gating perps in the face with the Desert eagle or raging bull.

I like how you can blast apart wooden doors with the shotguns but the SPAS12 seems like the only one worth using. It's just a shame it doesn't have a select fire to put it into semi-auto mode as per its real life counterpart.

Yeah but half of them have practitcally identical stats. Plus there were still more in the prefvious R6 games :/

ArrowX
Jan 19th, 2007, 01:54 PM
the reason they have such similar stats is because it was made for the 360 and on the 360 you level up and you unlock new guns. the reason behind the similar stat thing is to keep the game balanced and it works great. The PC version lacks this system and I really don't know why.

I used to be a big fan of the AK- mainly because it just feels really good to fire./i] ;[i]o

I always find it's good to use weapons which the terrorists use, like the AK or Mac 11, because you don't need to worry about ammo.

The Mac 11 is great over short ranges, it's just 10 million bullets in 2 seconds- it's awesome fun, especially the one-handed "gangsta style" through doorways and around corners. Although it sounds stupid- probably the best mod for the mac11 is the 6x scope. For some reason it seems to feel more accurate? ;?

My loadout of choice at the moment (for terrorist hunt and coop at least) is MP9- which has a good firing rate, good stopping power, and it has accuracy- customed with silencer and 6x scope. Basically no one will hear you, and you'll find yourself often sneaking up on unsuspecting enemies when you have the silencer on it (I didn't really get the "unsuspecting enemies" with silencer on any of the assault rifles, so i think there's a bit of a difference between assault rifles and submachine guns) coupled with the MK23- it feels good to shoot. I get a fair few headshots with this gun, and it feels better than any of the other pistols to me :/

The advantage of using fast firing submachine guns is you can unload an entire clip and keep pretty high accuracy throughout- and it's even possible to fire while moving in some situations. ;0

It's because Ubi sucks big time when it comes to making PC versions of their games. I've probably mentioned this before in another thread, but the PC version of Double Agent was literally unplayable on a lot of PCs, even after a few patches. And don't even ask about Dark Messiah.

ArrowX

yeah, I completely agree with you, I couldn't' get past the first level of Vegas until the 3rd patch because of random crashes and one fun one when it crashed after equipping suppressors.

MetalMilitia

I've been playing terrorist hunt and levels like the vault and streets are really difficult with enemies set to high (even medium).
It seems that whenever I let off more than a few shots a shit ton of double-hard bastards storm round the corner and shoot me to pieces.

For example:
