Quolls or native cats (genus Dasyurus) are carnivorous (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carnivorous) marsupials (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marsupial), native to Australia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Australia) and Papua New Guinea (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Papua_New_Guinea). Adults are between 25 and 75 cm (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Centimeter) long, with hairy tails about 20-35 cm long. Females have six to eight nipples and develop a pouch—which opens towards the tail—only during the breeding season, when they are rearing young. The babies are the size of a grain of rice. Quolls live both in forests and in open valley land. Though primarily ground-dwelling, they have developed secondary arboreal characteristics. They do not have prehensile tails, but do have ridges on the pads of their feet.[2] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quoll#_note-mammals) Their molars and canines are strongly developed.
The tribe Dasyurini (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dasyurini) to which quolls belong also includes the Tasmanian Devil (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tasmanian_Devil), antechinuses (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antechinus), the Kowari (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kowari), and mulgaras (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mulgara).[1] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quoll#_note-msw3)
