I've got a gift certificate for my local game store that I never used and we're thinking of getting a racing game for the GC (a non rednecky/trucker kinda game where you can pick from a bunch of different cars and the music isn't some annoying pop-punk band playing the same damned song throughout the entire game). Any recommendations? I know there's a few games coming out in the next month or two... Burnout 2 and Rally Championship.

Anybody have any info on these two games or other good racing game suggestions for the GameCube?

you say that like it isn't a lot. we are just talking about racing games here.

simpsons road rage is only....meh. it's just a more cartoony version of crazy taxi, which i think we can all agree sucks a baboons balls.

I saw a trailer for Burnout 2, looks pretty impressive. Great crashes.

I know that it's just racing games, but I meant there's not anything notable aside from what mock's already mentioned. I miss the days of Road Rash :(

I kinda liked playin nascar on gamecube....but then again that is almsot as redneck as you can get.

Simpson's Road Rage is very fun, but I got through with it extremely fast. Just spend a few bucks to rent it. :/

I kind of liked the gamecube Wave Race game too. And no crash is more totally x-treme and in your face then smashing a little kid or fat ass Dave Mariner on some jagged rocks.

dont buy burnout 2... I've played Burnout for GC and it sucked.
The only good part is the crashes and after awhile they even get boring. "Hit a Car 200,000 DMG to repair!!"... OMFG!!
Rent Burnout for GC before you by Burnout 2, you'll be disappointed of the shit that they release :/

Wait for a decent racing game to come out for GC...

I have not played many racing games for the GC. Wave Race was ok. Just like the 64 game so if you liked that one, you should like the GC one. XG3 Extreme G Racing was pretty fun too.

F-Zero is supposed to be coming out late summer and Mario Kart sometime. Other than those I'm not really looking for any racing games for the GC.
