To add a little more movie discussion, what's your favorite movie ending?

I think of one later...

Titanic :)

Kidding aside, I'd say without a doubt The Empire Strikes Back. No matter how much shit I catch for it. :)

Reservoir Dogs' kicked utter ass.

I like in The Getaway when Charlie Sheen imagined stepping out of his car and being shot up. That was fuckin' awesome.

At the end of Se7en, Brat Pitt finds his wife's head in the cardboard box. John Doe taunts him, and he shoots him in the head. In writing, it sounds boring, but it is a very good ending. Suspenseful and well-timed.

I thought the ending of "The Ring" was pretty good.
"Empire Strikes Back" goes without saying.

One quick (stupid) question: in "Reservoir Dogs", does Mr. Pink get away, or do the cops shoot his ass down? I must've seen that movie 20 times, but my hearing is shit and I can't make out what's being said in the background.

Best ending: "Happiness", when the little kid successfully jerks off on the railing.

NINJA: are you thinking of Charlie Sheen or Emelio Estevez? I vividly recall a movie with Emelio where he's a criminal, along with Demi Moore, and at the end he has a vision of being blown away by a bunch of cops. Fuck, I can't remember the name.

Professor Cool, you rule. >:

And The Usual Suspects, for me at least, has one of the best endings, ever, but it's one of those movies that's a really great movie only because of it's ending. Like Citizen Kane.

Fave ending? Too many to list this late at night...

Mr. Pink? Listen at the end. You hear him starting up the car, or rather TRYING to. He never starts it, and you know the cops arrived. He lived, but he didn't get away.

Sorry Jamesman, but who hasn't seen Se7en? I thought most people who would have wanted to watch it would have caught it by now.

Also, Planes, Trains and Automobiles had a nice, warm, fuzzy ending.

ninja you are thinking of the The Chase, and yes it is charlie sheen, it is the scene where they finally stop him and the girl and it is just before he gets out of the car, he imagines pulling his hand out in the shape or a gun and getting shot by like 20 cops.

Beg to differ >:

While the ending of CK rounds the film off nicely, it's a (deliberately) unsatisfactory explanation of Kane's persona. It does however give us a lot to go on on a second (and third, fourth...) viewing, letting us slowly but surely approach the character from multiple angles without ever getting up close. The entire narration fucking rocks.

We may be talking about the same thing, though. I'm not sure whether you're saying "the twist at the end was cool" or "the ending reflects back on the entire story, adding another aspect to it".

Yeah, but when you ask most people about Citizen Kane, most of them will say "Rosebud was a sled. He had a sled." That or the scene with him in front of the giant poster of his face.

Apr 13th, 2003, 01:13 PM
Yeah, but most people don't watch classics, and few watch them more than once. CK ages like wine, and it improves with each viewing.
