After reading that article I guess I have to give that game a try.
The recently increased amount of Sega genesis material makes me happy.

Yeah, same here. All the nintendo stuff is good, but it seemed like there was never much genesis stuff outside of the classic game review section.

I would like to add to the Genesis-related approval, brings me back to when I would spend Saturdays playing the everloving shit out of Elemental Master.

I agree with that lastish comment. I have games I remember from years ago, and when I play them, I seem to forget their difficulty / crapiness. (Fester's Quest)

"Smash TV" and its sequel "Total Carnage" were always among my favorite games on the SNES. "Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts" is also one of the best in that series.

Don't play the latter unless you wanna get super frustrated, which I know you're just aching to do!

That guy on the title screen reminds me of Hugh Jackman, for some reason.

Yeah, I loved them as a kid, but as I got older my temper got shorter and shorter and the last time I played I got really annoyed and said fuck it. They are definitely still cool games though, and I was thinking about playing one the other day.
