It seems like whenever there's a few people talking about a fun, older game on here, one or two of em go off and start playing it and then fill whatever threads they're in with discussion about the game.

So since I'm bored, I wanna do that in here:(. I'm thinking earthbound :O

I play Earthbound every December. I could list a bunch of reasons why I always cream myself over the mention of this game but nobody wants to read lists, pffft.

Apparently there are people working on translating Mother 3 completely into English and then releasing it as patches for the roms when they're finished. You have no idea how happy I'll be when this happens, and from the looks of things they're pretty much almost done :D http://www.mother3.org/

I was actually going to start on the original Mother for NES, but Sam flaked out on getting me a translated rom >: So maybe I will pick this up, maybe I will (but not until after Wednesday). I was playing it a week or two ago when I made the SEASON GAMES thread but I got stuck somewhere in Peaceful Rest Valley that I stopped playing.

I always pick Mint, and I always make my name Sheesh so it sounds like everyone is really disappointed to see me.

PS: Jixby is a huge Earthbound fan, so if there is one game you can probably get him to play it's this one (and maybe Mario 64 :lol)

Although it does start out slow until things start picking up after the first "Your Sanctuary" location. Mostly because the beginning is the most time you'll spend focusing on levelling up and if you're at Lv 11 or so before the first boss then it's not something you'll even really have to think about anymore afterwards.

So yeah, right now I'm spending about an hour fighting a bunch of skate punks and Yes-Man Juniors before I face Frank :o

Oh man I know. I always tell myself not to use save states so I could stay true to the game, but every time I play this I always get killed by Mondo Mole about six times before I remember what his major weakness once so I always end up cheating :eek

And yeah I like fast forwarding Runaway Five shows and those trips you take in Dr. Andonuts's flying saucer thing because they take like five minutes. That and that one long wait behind the waterfall you have to do. :(

Yeah, that waterfall wait is bullshit so I skip past that. As for mondo mole... One time, I completely forgot about that area and came back and fought him when I had all 4 party members and way pretty high leveled. This time I just destroyed him with psi thunder.

I also fast forward to get through those messages of encouragement with the trippy backgrounds when you drink the coffee at Saturn Valley and Tenda Village.

This is one of the most enjoyable RPGs ever made and I really need to play again. Now I can be on the go and play it too, so bonus!

One thing I noticed about it is that it is very well styled and intricate in the visuals. I like the color choices.

I'm at Peaceful Rest Valley now, which is by far my least favorite part of the game. The damn spaceships keep giving me colds and I always run out of PP because I can't find butterflies. I don't think I've ever crossed it in one try :(

Just got to Threed myself and so begins my absolute favorite parts of the game, the Threed/Winters/Saturn Valley portion. I always liked going through Winters as Jeff, and of course free medical care and rest at Saturn Valley is awesome :sunglasses

It takes me a while to remember the order of events at Threed, but it's not as bad as the Summers/Dinosaur Museum/Fourside/Copolla Theater series events that I always get out of order as well and I keep having to pay money for tickets >:

I love the dialogue. This game doesn't take itself seriously at all which prevents a lot of groans from coming out of me let me tell you!

I thought it was really funny that Water Bottles help restore your PP and I especially like that they didn't really point out the joke.

I usually spend time in the Master Belch factory area killing Foppys until my team is at least Lv 30 (those Foppys are so easy to beat and you get a ton of exp if you keep encountering six at once) so I'm still there and I'm about to kill Belch.

It's always fun when there's a group of people playing and discussing the same game and if it's just a problem of finding one that everyone likes, then it shouldn't be too hard to fix. ROMs are definitely the way to go for this though because everyone can go and download them really quickly :O

I think Earthbound was easy because it was a pretty long game and in my opinion one of the better games I have ever played. I don't think there can be much discussion in a fighting game other then "I beat Sam!" and "I beat Sam again" for example.

I tend to play through theme hospital about once a year, good times.

sim city 200 gets a play every so often too (my favourite of the series). Its still a decent challenge making a decent city, by low crime and low pollution standards anyway

yea tales of phantasia is great like i mentioned earlier. As is star ocean one and two. Don't forget you can also download roms for the Playstation, but not all the games work.

It's really fun! The only thing that I hate about it is the small there is only like two places to store goods and you have a very small inventory. I'm never sure what I need and don't need so it becomes a hassle.

Man Earthbound is such a good game. I never used peanut though, I'm more of mint. I feel bad though cause I've never been able to defeat Gigyas. I always get to the part where the machine breaks and his real form is shown. I just cant win. It makes my soul hurt.
My favorite game would have to be Illusion of Gaia. That game was amazing!

I only got to the Tower of Love in Mother 3 before getting bored and stopping :(

It's got the same problem as Earthbound Zero where you have to grind like crazy to keep even the garden baddies from kicking the shit out of you. Of course, most of the game's spoilers have gone memetic, so I already know everything that happens anyway.

This is not only still my favorite game of all time, but it's one of my favorite things of all time too. Since this 16-year-old thread I've probably played Earthbound through another six or seven times. Mostly roms, once on the 3DS, and then last year on the Switch.

I'm gonna play it again :o
