Shut up, nintendork. You're not even old enough to know what an N64 is.
To me, it was the pinnacle of multiplayer gaming; offering up things like Goldeneye, Rampage, NFL Blitz, Mario Kart, Gauntlet Legends and the like.

The N64 has a sexy design.
Star Fox 64 is so awesome except the multiplayer isn't the greatest. I've grown to hate vibrating controllers but will still use the rumble pack for this game.
I think my friend who moved to ND has my Banjo Kazooie cart. I'm pretty sure I loaned it to him. I have the box and book but I couldn't find the cart anywhere. I hate that.
Super Mario 64 is my favorite mario game of all time..... I get hell for that.

You're probably right, but I was just filled with energy after I finished that level. My best memory from that game was in Java (I'm pretty sure). You had to get into some government area and I couldn't figure out how. So I got in a hovercraft and went to a nearby hill, then I turned my back to the installation and shot my elephant gun. The physics of the game shot me airbone (and flipped a bunch of times) and I think I landed in the middle of a bunch of aliens.
I don't know why people said that game was bad :(
EDIT: Aw fuck now I know how I'm spending my Saturday.

*Not to Intrude on Zomboid's Thread*
I have to give much thanks to Nintendo 64's 'Mario Tennis' and 'Mario Kart'. Both of Which gave my friends and I something to do on those rainy afternoons, when it was too cold to be outside, or when we wanted to hold competitions.
Favorite game play: Who could screw who first in Mario Kart's - Rainbow Road.
Worst game play: When starting to join in on playing Mario Tennis, I was horrible. There were always teams, being as sometimes ten of us were camped out in (namedrop) living room; waiting to play. When it came to picking who was on who's team, until I started to pick up some skill; No-one wanted to be on my team. :(

Guitar Woman

I did once, but it didn't work too well. For whatever reason it can't display 2.5D objects properly, and it's impossible to set your keyboard up to where it's as convenient as that crazy controller, and it runs really slow, and a bunch of other annoying shit. It's better to just buy games and actually play them on your N64.

The N64. The one system everyone, their moms, and their family pets owned.
I have a lot of good memories of this system, most notably of the following games:
WCW/NWO Revenge (Which really stood out as a superior game to the shit Akklame was putting out with the WWF games.)
Starcraft 64 (The first time I played I thought Overlords could attack and sent like, 20 of them against the enemy. Somehow I did better that game than my friend, who lives for that game.)
Star Fox 64 (The first N64 game I had.):rock
Smash Bros. (It never gets old. Well, until you play the other one.)
Diddy Kong Racing (For being the shittiest N64 game I played outside of Pokemon Snap)
Goldeneye (I'd play a Goldeneye tourney over Halo anytime.)
Turok (For suckinjg and being cool at the same time. The glitch in Rage Wars was so gay.)
Duke Nukem (Forever!)
Rainbow Six (For being another good port. Those games are fun in a realistic sense.)
Clayfighter 63 1/3 (For fucking up three franchises at once, something I'd have thought impossible.

Jun 14th, 2007, 07:17 PM
oh, that's cool :O
what i meant, though, is what kind of n64 emulator does it use? is it just a linux n64 emulator, or is it special? Could I just install linux and the emulator on my computer and get the same performance?
Have you tried ogre battle 64 on your n64 emulator?
Fathom Zero
Jun 14th, 2007, 07:53 PM
Well, it depends on how much RAM you have on your computer.
The XBox is a glorified computer, but it has far less processes running, so it's 64 MB of RAM can go a long way.
And most emulators are made using the illegal-to-distribute Xbox Dev Kit. It's native Xbox applications, no Linux involved.
And I haven't tried Ogre Battle. I need to hook everything back up so I can transfer files from the Comp. to the Xbox. It involves FTP and networks and all sorts of bass-ackwards jury-rigging to do it.
kahljorn
Jun 14th, 2007, 09:25 PM

I would because there's not much use for an unmodded one what with the lack of support and the 360 being out.
Anyways, best cheat code ever; The code to unlock the Cadillac in Star Wars: Rogue Squadron.

Don't bother modding the xbox soley for N64 because its buggy as hell and certain games wont run at all. Goldeneye as one example can't handle the frame rates for multiple explosions on a multiplayer match. You should just get an N64 with the original games since they dont seem to be expensive anymore. That's what I plan to do anyway.

Or you could get really into it and desolder 64 megs of RAM from an unused and or broken Xbox and solder it onto the board of the one you plan to mod.
I dunno if I want to do that, but it's on my list of things to do. Eventually.
Anyway, Seven Force is probably right. I only have Super Smash Bros. and Ridge Racer 64 on mine, so I dunno how Goldeneye or Ogre Battle would fare. But it can do everything else, including Sega CD very well and Playstation (with little idiocyncracies). In fact, the Sega CD emu will play the games on discs. It gives me a reason to go out and buy 'em.
Everything else is golden. Besides web browsing.
It's a pain in the ass.
Was there ever a MechWarrior game for the N64?

Not PS2, I believe. There's barely a working PS2 emulator period, aside from the one that's constantly getting upgraded. (They do have MGS: 3 and Kingdom Hearts 2 working on it though.) :O
But yeah, you can play burnt ones. You can rip 'em to the hard drive too.
That's why I have about fifty games from Hollywood Video on there.
Seven Force
Jun 16th, 2007, 04:57 AM
Mischief Makers works but the text in the dialouge boxes look funky, although I don't know if its just the one emu that I use on the xbox. Of course if you know what to do anyway it's not a big deal. Bomberman 64 doesn't work much at all. Chameleon Twist keeps asking for a controller/rumble pak and doesn't go past the screen. I'm sure there's a list somewhere on compatibility on the N64 games on XBOX.
