I've been up all night putting together this gallery of photos from the big 2007 "I Am 8-Bit" opening reception here in Los Angeles. For those of you who don't know about it, it's a group art show in which the artists pay tribute to their favorite video games from the 80's. This collection was the best one yet and even included a giant 5-and-a-half foot Atari 2600 joystick that actually worked. So here ya go, check out the 100+ photos! And now, I'm gonna go pass out.

I loved the painted NES Advantage. If I didn't draw/paint like a palsied chimp I'd spruce mine up as well.

That was Joust, which was probably my favorite old Atari game.

John (Boogie) actually commented at the show last night that those were rom hacks truly coming into their own. Somebody finally found a way to sell them.

I'm not sure which one was my favorite, it's really hard to say. I did love Brandon Bird's "Coach" arcade game. I've been a fan of his art for a while now and it just keeps getting funnier.

That was where my mind went when I saw those too but I wasn't sure anyone else would think so. Really though, if ya think about it, how many people without rom hack knowledge would do a piece like that? That was pretty much the bread and butter of most rom hacks.

Yep, well that and swastikas. Didn't see any nazi stuff in those pieces. Guess they're saving that for the 2008 show. Rom Hacks are taking over the art world! Eat your heart out, Picasso!
