Sadly, I took me a few years to muster up the courage to get by that (im pretty sure you are thinking of the first act, though). Even after working the barrel, time was an issue in both acts. Also that room full of doors in Bowsers Keep in Super Mario RPG. You couldnt save after clearing a door and every time I ended up in the room where you had to hit all the right series switches I knew I was fucked.

the barrel from sonic 3 :eek i remember one time renting the game and someone had made it past that level. that was the first time i got to experience the rest of the game, which in comparison to the first 4 levels blows. :/

recently i haven't honestly had any trouble in games, but i have spent a few days on some of the bosses in viewtiful joe 1 & 2

Sandopolis Zone Act 2. When I played Sonic & Knuckles 10 years ago I stuck in that goddanmed tomb.....wasn't until 2003 that I played that game again and finally figured it out. Still, Terminator 2 has the most insanely difficult level I've ever played.

The 14th Colossus' time attack in hard mode. Every attempt ends in me hurling my poor PS2 controller to the floor in frustration. It's not even that hard! It's just the thought of climbing all those pillars again, ugh. Climb piller, lure the beast over, shoot him with an arrow, press R1 and wait for him to knock it down. Rinse and repeat.

I'm far too impatient for that.
