Diary of a Madman
Imagine- covered by A Perfect Circle

originally by Ozzy Osbourne and John Lennon, respectively.

Especially Diary of a Madman, because it's one of my favorite songs (Ozzy's most underrated track at that), and they brutally raped it like those hill billies in Deliverance.

Where did you sleep last night?
Original artist - Leadbelly
Coverer - Nirvana

There's just so many things I like more about Leadbelly's version.

Oh and while we're at it

Iron Man
Original artist - Black Sabbath
Coverer - Any band ever
There is absolutely no reason to cover a song like Iron Man. It's like covering Smoke on the Water.

Do you mean as in it's overrated, or NO ONE will ever be able to match the original, so they may as well forget covering?

On that note, any time I've heard Ozzy (solo) cover it live it has always sounded shitty and is turned into a medly (they go into "Children of the Grave") halfway through.

Also, most of the newer covers off of Metallica "Garage" album were pretty bad ("Turn the page" is an exception)

Iron Man is such an iconic song that there is absolutely no reason it should be covered. Everyone on the planet has heard that damn riff. There's no way you can build upon a song like Iron Man, you're just bound for failure.

Makes sense.
