I got a newer car recently, and safe to say I'm happy. And I'm in the mood to bullshit! The only thing I'm kinda not used to about said car is the fact this car dosen't have idiot keys. Never mind the fact I've had a Thunderbird from the 70s with an idiot key.
Anyways, who here is aware of the term "Idiot Key"? And do you have a car with an idiot key?

I have no idea what an Idiot Key is, but I could probably use one to help me understand some of my coworkers.

Even the internet doesn't know what an idiot key is so I have to pull a Lenor here and ask you what you're talking about :(

either those plastic credit card keys they make or just the door locks that you can open with practically anything even a screwdriver :( they only have one little clicky thing on the inside
its basically like one of those lockable kid things that have cheap ass keys usually those can be opened with almost anything flat

well if i understand right an idiot key is one that works on the doors but not the ignition that you can (for example) hide in a magnetic box attached somewhere on the underside of the car so you can get back in if you leave the ignition key in the ignition and lock the door but nobody can steal your car with it
i've had two cars with powerlocks that won't lock if a key is in the ignition, and another SORT OF anti-locking-yourself-out mechanism is the doors you have to lift the handle on to close, because if you're distracted enough to leave keys in the ignition you're probably not gonna remember to lift the handle either :(
but i've locked keys in every damn car i've owned, so fat lot of good that does :(

Willie is right...My jeep has a $100 computer chip key for the ignition and another for the door....I've been an idiot and locked the keys in the ignition and had the spare in my wallet to open the door.

I also do the wallet thing. I don't know why they call it an 'Idiot Key' though, seems like everyone who doesn't have one and has to call their friends in the middle of the night to drive all the way downtown with a coat hanger are the idiots am I right you guys?

me either
on a side note my car has one of those little keypads that you enter a code on and the doors unlock or you can roll down the windows or pop the drunk lol so even if i did lock them in i could get them out.
I'm better than you.

Why wouldn't you just call the police?
They love opening doors for idiots that lock their keys in the door.

Okay, I lock my keys in my car all the time. But! I smoke. And my driver's window is broken, I have to push it up with my hand while I press the button that rolls it up/down. So what does this mean? Well I usally always leave my window cracked (yes my car smells awful when it rains ;)) so when I do lock my keys into my car I just squeeze my hand through my window and unlock it/or use like a fireplace rod :/

An idiot key is basically a double-ended key with an idiotic name because idiotic people would (amazingly, but also idiotically) stick their keys in the wrong side and turn the key, bending AND breaking their non-idiotic key....because their idiots.
But nothing is more idiotic than locking your keys in the trunk. THAT is shit times.

I've locked my keys in my car a bunch of times, and it comes from me instinctively hitting the power lock button when I leave the car. My radio was stolen a while back, so now I lock it every time I leave...even if it's just for a minute.
There's only been one time where my keys were in the ignition, and my spare wasn't in my wallet. There was a security guard around though, so it all got worked out.

I used to drive a 1967 Mercury Cougar. It was bitchin', but it had a kill switch that would block out the ignition so if it was flipped a certain way you couldn't start the car. I have NO FUCKING CLUE what purpose that serves, other than hoping that car thieves don't know it's there. Every time we'd have it worked on, we'd flip the switch and forget about it and be like "GODDAMN, IT'S BROKE AGAIN WHAT THE CUNT. OH, IT'S JUST THE KILL SWITCH, LOL".

Hahaha. A few weeks ago I was with my uncle and we go outside to leave the resturaunt we were at and a cop locked himself out of his own car. Only The best cops for Belleville!
