The link below is for a bar less than a mile from my house. I used to play parties in the owner's basement so he doesn't make me pay. Alot of the time I miss some good bands from being ignorant. If I were to go every show, I'd be deaf, broke, and have a swollen liver. I did manage to see Voivod and they rocked.
They've also got their own forum for those who can't seem to talk enough about metal.

I was wanting to go to the Dillinger Escape Plan but I found out that I have to play a benefit show, for Cancer. What kind of shit is that, Cancer always wins. Sure you can knock it down with chemo but sooner or later it'll get you. If I'm lucky, I'll be able to do them both.

I thought Nile was just another local band. I don't know where they call home but I used to run into the guitarist (Dallas I think) a good bit. I didn't realize how popular they had gotten.

Thanks for the feedback.

Wesley Willis about made me piss myself the first time I saw him. He taught me the proper techniques for head butting. "Look me in the eyes when you but my head, now say RAH!"
Goatwhore played there a week or two ago. I thought they had a goofy name, then I met some of them and they turned out to be pretty goofy themselves. There was also a band that evening called Vampire Moose. I wasn't curious enough to stick around to see if they were a joke or not. It's hard to tell nowadays.

You need to go, you won't be sorry.
This picture appears to be from back when he had the Fiasco. I heard that Wesley beat the hell out of the bass player one night. Apparently Wesley didn't take his medication.
The last time I saw him, it was just him and the keyboard. Most of the songs sounded the same but it was still worth the mile drive.

Skulhed... They kept talking about New Orleans and ******s.
Are you from New Orleans, are you a ******?
To be fair the singer seemed pretty nice. We really didn't have a chance to converse. War coverage was on TV and everyone kept talking about guns and people killed by them (guns) and there was drinking too.

Nile is from NYC. I'm from Dallas and I now luckily commute from NJ to NYC every day. If Dallas has any decent bands please enlighten me, because the scene down there is pathetic.

Yes, Mayhem used to be good. Now they're on the label of the Nazi moron that committed the most cowardly murder in music history, toning down their live show and music for the "Metal Maniacs" crowd, and saying disparaging things about the man who made them, all the while having only one original member and being led by one of the most overrated, idiotic musicians Norway has ever spawned.

I agree to your post about mayhem, although I never saw what was so great about them even in the beggining.

Well, personally I guess I'm not all that into them either, but you have to respect Euronymous as a very expressive guitarist. Dead had a unique brutal voice and stage presence, Euro really is influential to other bands like Immortal with the way he played, especially the scales he used to get that cold Black Metal feel(even though this is very Bathory-inspired, he did it in a new way that really set the blueprint for BM.)

Deathcrush, silly as the lyrics were(written by Necro Butcher, heh) was a masterpiece because of the fresh brutal sound they created with it. It must've been amazing to hear those first few chords of the title track back then, then see what happened in the scene afterwards. Quite an entrance.

My memory must really be fucking with me. I thought when I saw them they said at some point that they were from NYC. I spose I'll check the official site.

Thanks Mutiilation, I was feeling like the sucker MC for a second there. The reference to Dallas was about their guitarist. I was talking to the sound man (from Ground Zero) the other day and he mentioned some lineup changes they've had over the years. So Dallas may not even be with them any more. He also informed me that they were from Anderson SC, for those who like trivia.

king diamond is a definite hell yeah

King Diamond is a pathetic Alice Cooper wannabe, who screaches like a strangled cat, and makes the most cliched metal you will ever hear this side of Manowar (watch the video to "Family Ghost" for a good giggle). Unfortunately his high pitched banshee screams are just so amusing, its truly hard to resist seeing live - I know I'd love to go - definate fits of hysterics there!

Sorry for the late reply.

Actually, it's more or less a shock value thing. There are a lot of black metal fans in this state too. They accept what he's saying as just BS and leave well enough alone, and they fuck with him back ("Hey you angry cracka!" and so forth)

I've met them several times because they are close to Dax Riggs (formerly of Acid Bath) and we see Goatwhore at many local Deadboy shows (Dax's newest band) and they are pretty cool, if not bizarre.

The last time we saw Deadboy, they had an opening act called Drizzle, a lot like Evanescence in that their lead singer is female and has a fucking amazing voice but the music itself was a bit too emo for me. Someone out there might like them better though.
