I thought about buying a Wii when it came out and then lately I see commercials for there new pre-school graphics game Brain Academy :\ Ironic that two Japanese guys need to show up in a Smart car to bring such a lame ass game.

If you were actually into playing games instead of criticizing their graphics you'd realize that the wii is by far the best of the current generation of consoles.

And if you played a game or two on another console, you realize that some games don't need gimmicky controls to be really fun.

This'll be cool and everything, but I still hate having 100 Wii Points left over after buying an snes game. Making my money go nowhere really.

Eh. I have a wii and a 360 and I play my 360 a fuck of a lot more than my wii. It's fun when you first try it, but that's about it really. There's not too many games out that are worth buying either.

Are there any good platformers out there for the Wii yet?
I mean, Mario Galaxy and stuff is coming out but I wanted to know if anything's out yet. I thought Rayman would have been, but it's just another party game.

Super Paper Mario is supposed to be fantastic, I just haven't had a chance to play it first-hand yet. And, of course, you can't go wrong with the Metal Slug Anthology if you ask me.

Smash Bros. Brawl. That's reason number one to get a Wii.

I'm sure that with E3 coming up in a few weeks, most will have more than enough reason to pick one up.

You and me both. I accidentally bumped my Nintendo wireless usb thing and the connecting, um, teeth I guess you could call them, came apart from the main circuits. I could probably solder them back together but if that doesn't work. there's 40 bucks down the drain.

I've bumped it a few times and even tipped my computer forward with it plugged in and messed it all up and it still worked. I guess it was just one too many.

And if you played a game or two on another console, you realize that some games don't need gimmicky controls to be really fun.
And he does mean some. Specifically, big tough marine guy with gun game #64, half-naked kung fu chicks game #42, and ultra-cool designer racing game #112. These experiences can be yours for the low, low price of $2000, when you include the price of the television you'll need to buy to accomodate these amazing advances in entertainment. But you're right - the Wii's biggest problem right now is gimmicky motion controls, conceived by developers who either shit out a port or a spin-off of an established title and load it up with minigames. It's the games that include movement that genuinely enhances gameplay as opposed to replacing button presses - such as Wii Sports, Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam, Resident Evil 4, Bust-A-Move Bash, Kororinpa, et al, and fresh experiences like those are what most people like about the Wii.
But about the topic, I've gotten a shit-ton of mileage out of the Virtual Console and Internet Channel, and WiiWare is a natural progression of the work that Steam started and is ultimately where game distribution is going anyway, while HD-DVD and Blu-ray fight their ironic format war over who gets to dominate their irrelevant market.
