So I was in a video store today listening to some tunes when it stops. I look to see if my ear buds came out but they hadnt. After much cussing and taking the lords name in vain at home and at the store I began holding buttons. I fixed it by doing this:

Toggle the hold button on then off once. Then hold the menu button and the center button for about 5-10 seconds until the Apple logo appears. Only hold the top of the menu to avoid touching anything else on the friggin click wheel. When it does dont panic. It'll be there for awhile maybe 30 seconds tops. It will take you to the main menu refreshed and ready to go! If it doesnt work then you didn't hold it right and you're going to have to start over.

Congratulations on figuring out how to soft reset your iPod, which is probably explained in the manual.
