Found it at SuperHeroHype (http://www.superherohype.com/cgi-bin/news/punisher.cgi?newsid1051654646,15458,). I didn't even know they were making a new Punisher movie. I got a feeling that the first Punisher movie will be better than this one :(.

He looks a little scrawny to be Frank, but he definitely looks like he could be angry enough.

His skull looks freshly ironed-on. :(

He's not.. oh how whall I put this?

He's not Dolph enough to be the Punisher.

Christ, I know fat female cosplay enthusiasts who'd look more convincing.

Well, so much for hoping this movie would be good. And that Michale Jackson one-glove look isn't helping any.

LOOK AT HIS "ANGRY FACE"! THAT'S THE MOST PATHETIC LOOKING LITTLE SHIT I'VE EVER SEEN!

AHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAAHHAHA

Fuck after seeing that, the old Punisher movie with Dolph is looking DAMNED GOOD.

James

See, the key to casting a decent Punisher is to make sure the person has hit puberty. >:

Also, actually looking SOMEHWAT like Punisher would help too (jet black hair, stubble, older than 15).

Who the hell IS that? It looks like the poor man's Christopher Lambert.

Duhhh! He's angry because he's so scrawny. :rolleyes

a scene in the movie should be where he gets his shirt at HOT TOPIC and then loses it to an elf with a +9 crossbow with DEX.

Man, Steve Buscemi would make a great Punisher.

There should be a scene where he gets killed by Wild Dog.

Comparison time:

Comic Punisher, classic look (http://www.thepunisher.com/comics/war_journal/pwj_002.jpg)
Comic Punisher in recent times, I imagine (http://windresss.crosswinds.net/wotr/Masterprints/Punisher.jpg)
Dolph Lundgren as Punisher (http://my.netian.com/~jcvd/punisher.jpg)
Baby Punisher (http://www.boomspeed.com/psychosquid/punisher.jpg)

On a side note, who would you have picked to play Punisher? Based on his more recent look, I'd have to say Bruce Willis. If given a little dye job here and some makeup there, he'd have the look. Although I think his voice might be a little too light.

Indeed! Through if you think about it, the Punisher is an impossible movie to make: it's about an really aged older guy who kills people out of revenge and Hollywood seems to be using younger people instead just for the hell of it.

And personally, who the hell is going to believe a twenty-year old Punisher actually fought in Nam and such? C'mon.

The same people who thought that David Hasselhoff would make a great Nick Fury.

Well, to be fair to them, they just cast him not too long ago. They don't even start filming until summer. Maybe he'll get bigger?

I'll cross my fingers, anyway.

James
Apr 30th, 2003, 11:53 AM
There's no way he'll have pubes by the summer.

Everyone knows they grow in at winter time.

Protoclown
Apr 30th, 2003, 12:10 PM
He does look WAY too young for the part, unfortunately. Doesn't matter if he gets bigger or not.

And I doubt that's the finalized costume, guys. They don't even start filming yet, so that's probably just a promo to get an idea of what he'll look like in the part.

HENRY ROLLINS SHOULD BE THE PUNISHER :(

Whoever was in charge of casting for this should be strangled.

I take back what I said about him looking angry enough. His eyes look alright, but the more I look at that picture, the more those pouty little baby lips are just begging for a rubber nipple to be thrust between them. :(

James
Apr 30th, 2003, 02:03 PM
Do you notice how his top lip overlaps his lower one. Also known as "Anna Nicole lips."

Speaking of which, Bobby Trendy would have made a better Punisher.

Mockery
Apr 30th, 2003, 02:29 PM
Henry Rollins has the perfect face and anger to be the Punisher, but he's definitely too short. Dolph had the perfect look for the punisher, he just can't act (not that the movie was well written or anything). Still, I'd take either of 'em over this new chump any day.

a scene in the movie should be where he gets his shirt at HOT TOPIC and then loses it to an elf with a +9 crossbow with DEX.

Tenno made me laugh. :(

Zbu Manowar

They could put lifts on Rollins and cast around him. He's a bit on the bulky side but he definitely has the Punisher edge. But let's face it: at least this time they included the fucking skull.

Jeanette X

That can be remedied with a few camera tricks. I agree with you Rog, Henry Rollins would be a great Punisher. He's a much better actor than people give him credit for.

FS
Apr 30th, 2003, 03:23 PM
They need to get Michael Clarke Duncan.

Not just for the Punisher either. Also for Superman, the Hulk and of course Batman.

Zbu Manowar
Apr 30th, 2003, 03:26 PM
Nah, Fred Williamson would be perfect. If anybody questions it, we could always say the Punisher never recovered from 'The Final Days' and be done with it.

Mockery
Apr 30th, 2003, 03:40 PM
But let's face it: at least this time they included the fucking skull.

Honestly, I think that makes it worse. Then again, it might be because the skull shirt is being worn by a pouty WIMP. >:

For the plot, they should do that crazy Garth Ennis shit where he's just risen from the dead and there are like eight fake Punishers.

Zbu Manowar
Apr 30th, 2003, 03:54 PM
True, maybe on the real actor it'll look better.

But honestly, who didn't dig the eight Punisher pretenders? Hell, if I could find Idiot Punisher I'd use that as an Avatar. Or even that robotic Punisher 2099 before the comic went further into the shitter.

Thomas Jane should have stuck to dramatic films. He was great in Boogie Nights. Lately though, he has been sucking it hard.

I don't think ANYONE should play punisher. I'm sick of all these superhero movies. They're shooting them out so fast that they don't have as much of a chance as batman and superman did. X-Men was pretty good and I'm seeing the sequel this friday if it comes to my town, but I think the hulk looks like shit and daredevil's pretty much been called shit by everyone.

AND THE BLADE MOVIES SUCK TOO.

Skulhedface
Apr 30th, 2003, 09:31 PM
Short or not, I'd find Henry Rollins to be the most believeable Punisher they could pull off.

As far as this guy goes, yes, I still think he looks like the poor man's Christopher Lambert, but after a little thought, I decided bad could be a lot worse.

They could've got Vin Diesel or something.

Rollins was made for this role like Tobey Maguire was made for Spider-Man.

James

Can he act though? I mean, sure, I LOVED his work in The Chase and The New Guy (/sarcasm), but could he really handle such a role?

The_Rorschach
May 1st, 2003, 04:22 AM
Don't forget he was in Johnny Mnuemonic (sp?).

But personally, I would rather see Al Pacino as the Punisher. The man was supposed to be Italian, and he didn't get buff until the early nineties.

On a side note. EVERYONE knew about Blade who read comics in the eighties. Midnights Sons was a huge story arch, and Blade teamed up with Doc Strange, Blaze and the Ghost Rider for like 13 issues. He wasn't as little known as he is now

Grazzt
May 1st, 2003, 11:49 AM
Yeah, of course I know that. I think that movies made based on lesser known characters are less subject to insane amounts of "public viewing control". Which is why I think a Shang-Chi movie would be so great. How could you screw that up?

Unless you made it as a nu-metal filled teenage angst cock up, of course. But honestly, I don't know how you can make the story of a British MI6 agent who's father is a would-be conquerer into that.

Protoclown
May 1st, 2003, 12:52 PM
A story arch, Rorschach? Is that anything like a fable buttress?

Fuck Blade. He sucks. His movies suck more.

I don't know. . .A story arch, as we used to call them, were storylines that required you to buy other titles that just the main one to figure out what was going on. Like the first Secret Wars run with the Beyonder in the seventies, or X-Tinction Agenda, or any of that.

Storylines were just independant plots that didn't require extra reading to understand. Like Days of Future Past

Protoclown

Rorshach. I know what a story arc is. I was just making fun of your spelling.

The_Rorschach

Secret Wars was Jim Shooter's failed attempt at writing. Jim Shooter is yet another comic book vandal who needs to be imprisoned.

Yeah, it's being written by hte guy who did the Crow TV pilot script :/

THIS is where it's at, though:

Who the hell wants to see an Aquaman OR Namor movie? Why on earth do the comic companies think these will be popular??

I'm really enjoying the recent wave of comic book movies, and I do NOT want to see it ruined by a couple of films that are destined to be bombs thrown into the mix. A couple bombs based on characters like Aquaman, or Speedball, or Bat-mite, and next thing you know, they decide it's not worth it to make comic movies anymore. :(

Grazzt
May 6th, 2003, 04:49 PM
If it's based on gay 60's Aquaman, it will bomb. But if it is based on modern Aquaman, it might be good!

pjalne
May 7th, 2003, 06:56 AM
It will most likely be based on modern Aqua Man. Still, I smell a Batman & Robin is coming this way to kill off all pre-production comic adaptions for years to come.

Grazzt
May 8th, 2003, 12:38 AM
Most likely.

CastroMotorOil
May 8th, 2003, 01:03 AM
how the hell can you make a good movie from fucking aquaman? he is one of the most boring superheroes ever! A movie about a guy who only has powers in the water, gee that is gonna be great.

Grazzt
May 8th, 2003, 01:15 AM
You know, a lot of people who make fun of Aquaman don't realize that the problem with him is solved if he stays in the water all the time, like with Peter David's Aquaman series. Plus the guy has superstrength.

Maybe a movie about a war in Atlantis or something has merit? If the movie treats Aquaman like the Justice League Animated Series did, then it could be at least watchable.

Zomboid
May 8th, 2003, 03:35 AM
Yeah, the original 2 parter on justice league was kinda cool but the episode where he has to cut off his hand to save his kid was good too.

Unless that's the one you mean...

I'd rather watch Namor and Aqua man fight over who gets the water wings this week than a movie about two super heroes who blow fighting a super villain who sucks.

Shit. Give us Kitty Pryde nude.

Well to be honest, you want a superhero movie that had 'edge' and is 'extreme'?

Deathshead needs his own flick.
