What are your guys favorite movies of all time?

My vote goes to Kung Pow. Jesus, I've never laughed so hard.

I still say the best scene was when they're falling down the waterfall. Best line ever.

"I'm falling! You're falling! WE'RE FALLING!"

While I love all the movies mentioned so far, I have to think that anybody who seriously labels one of them as the "best movie ever" probably hasn't seen very many movies.

My vote goes to "The Seven Samurai".

I'd answer, but I already did, when this thread was made before, and before, and probably before.

Hell yes to Blues Brothers! :)

But Blues Brothers 2000 made me sad. :(

I'd like to add Goonies if it wasn't already said and Oh Brother Where Art Thou?

Fight Club is a most definite number two in my book. Shit, the first time I saw it, after my boss at Video Update told me that it was absolutely imperative I see this movie as quick as I can, well, I went. Yeah, I fell in love with the movie. I went back the next morning to see it again. Since then, I've read all of Chuck Pahlinuk's books at least three times, and all I can hear is Ed Norton's voice narrating them.

I'm starting to believe that Royal has rummaged through my place >: Seriously, the man hasn't praised one single movie or artist I don't love myself.

If I had to say one single movie, it would be "High Strung" without a doubt. But I'd rather not just say one single one so I'll list a few of my faves...

1) Best Comedy - "High Strung"

2) Best Horror - "Prince of Darkness"

3) Best Horror/Comedy - "Jack Frost"

4) Best Thriller - "Se7en"

5) Best Drama - "Shawshank Redemption"

6) Best Romance/Comedy/Surreal - "Amelie"

7) Best Mystery - "Twin Peaks" (the whole series, not just the movie)

That's all I can think of off the top o' my head at the moment...

The Day the Earth Stood Still

Blade Runner

The Third Man, because I love the Harry Lime radio shows.

Yeah, The Third Man is awesome. Orson Welles owns that film; every second he is on screen is gold.

The new Orsonified version of Touch of Evil is also good. Sure, Charlton Heston is a Mexican in it and the last line is in my opinion piss awful (there have been discussions), but Welles does a great job as director and actor.

As for Bergman: I like a lot of his stuff, but I'm not sure what I think about Persona. It has lots of good stuff in it, but it sometimes it turns a little pretentious. Haven't seen Seventh Seal yet, looking forward to that one. If you're interested in Victor Sjöström (Seastrom while working in the US), the guy who played the lead in Wild Strawberries, I'd reccomend The Wind from 1928. It has a terrible ending tacked on by the studio (the word 'seamless' does NOT come to mind), but it's got an unparalleled mood and some impressive visual effects. Directed by Sjöström and with Lillian Gish in the lead.
