"I just love the thrill of watching socially inept people on Big Brother scream at each other because somebody forgot to wash the dishes. This is a great escape from my dull, humdrum life where the only excitement I get is from being socially inept, washing the dishes and screaming at other socially inept people. But at least on Big Brother, everyone is more attractive than me and there are more minorities."

"Athletes make a lot of money for just playing sports. Send your resume to a professional baseball team. Maybe your degree in philosophy and your minor in history will land you the job of left fielder for the Boston Red Sox."

Sweet.

you should try being funny in your articles, people like that sort of thing these days.

maybe someday you will be up to snuff with that guy who writes garfield, or dare i say it, paul harvey cutting a funny riff during his nitey seconds of news.

Comedy is faaaaaaar too hard and takes too much work.

Writing gothic poetry is much easier. And I don't mean poetry prevalent in northern Europe from the 12th through the 15th century. I mean like what losers who wear spiked collars and eye liner poorly write to try to convince themselves that they're somewhat different than the popular kids who shop at Abercrombie and Fitch.

My favorite when Paul Harvey makes jokes he'll stop and then a few seconds later he'll laugh at his own joke as if he had to think about why it was funny. It seems like he's very close to saying "ah, that WAS a good one, wasn't it."

My 8th grade history teacher and home room teacher made us listen to Paul Harvey all the fucking time. He was one of my all-time favorite teachers, but he made me hate Paul Harvey with a fucking passion. :(

The good teachers make you feel passionate about things. :(

LighterSide no laughing matter

To the Editor:

I know Oshkosh isn’t all that exciting and there’s not much to write about that’s funny. I can imagine writing for the LighterSide would be a challenge considering nothing funny happens in Oshkosh. However, I think there’s a line, and Chris Becker crossed that last week.

His column is quite possibly the most distasteful piece of anything I’ve ever had the opportunity to read, especially with Mr. Becker’s relentless attack on the governance groups on campus. This would be funny if he didn’t make it sound like a game of Risk.

Now I’m sure Mr. Becker is smugly saying to himself “I’m a comic genius,” when in fact he should be asking himself if journalism is a career he wants to really pursue.

I’m requesting that the A-T never allow him to write, or even have access to a computer, again.

Clearly, all he’s doing is pissing off people who are doing their best to help the campus and improve things.

This isn’t the easiest task, and if you don’t believe me, Becker, why don’t you go and give it a shot. Instead of whining about it go out and join OSA, USRH or RUB, and really get a feel for what they do.

You won’t though; it’s so much easier to complain than it is to go out and change anything.

I applaud every single person who’s out there making a difference for the campus in whatever group they may be participating, it’s a whole lot more than Chris Becker can say.

I can't believe somebody found that. :(

Back in October, I wrote a really great column advocating a Bolshevik revolution of the student government. It wasn't even making fun of the student government groups; it was making fun of college communists. Here's the link:

That's really my favorite column that I've written. It got me nominated for a Hearst Journalism Scholarship (I didn't win. :( ) The guy who wrote the letter to the editor was an idiot, and everyone agreed with that.

The week after my Bolshevik column ran (the week this douche bag's letter ran) I wrote a column in response to it. Here it is:
