Everytime I watch this film it kicks the living shit out of me. It's just so intense, and saddening, to the point where it is almost masochistic to watch. If films were only gauged by how much emotional impact they had on their audience, this would be considered the greatest film ever made.

Yeah, but you get depressed and grossed out at Requiem for a Dream whereas I think it's funny and "okay."

Who would set the ratings system? >:

I don't agree with rating system. There shouldn't be one.

Requiem for a Dream is brutal as well, and you only think it's funny because you have no empathetic ability, you are a sociopath. >:

The only reason I thought Dancer in the Dark was brutal, was because it was so goddamn boring. That and those choppy "I-want-it-to-look-arty" camera cuts made me fucking throw up.
I love the soundtrack though.

Actually all of the cuts where due to the fact they used 100 cameras. I really loved the style, and everything else about it. Only gets better on repeat viewings too.

It's a beautiful fucking movie, to be sure.
