I never understood the point of smoking cigerettes. For those who do smoke, please do enlighten me on why you smoke cigerettes.

IMO, smoking is for the nervous wrecks.

Ive been smoking for a while now, and its sort of a comfort thing. Upset? light a smoke. Nervous? It keeps your hands busy. Just had sex? Well that is just enjoyable.

If you're gonna do it, do it and then quit while you're young.

I don't miss it. I smoked for eight years or so. It used to be a comfort thing. But I've found that breathing is comfortable too.

Over the last year, I'd smoke if I was at a bar, maybe once a month or so, but that was it. A few weeks ago, I was a little tipsy, and, on a whim, took a drag off someone's cig. I almost threw up. Haven't had the slightest desire since. :puke

Cigarettes suck. They taste horrible to me. So do cigars. I guess I'm not too big of a tabacco fan, there are so much better things to smoke, like the big M....

Mint. Or Pot.

I remember my granpa telling me about how smoking used to be good. He was in the army and they would ration them cigarettes. I mean if you are going to have one group of people you don't want bent over weezing every time they exert themselves it would be soldiers.

I hate cigarettes. I personally find not one thing good about them. And for the people on this board, who see this reply and smoke cigarettes, I have one question for you: What gave you the desire to carry cancer in a white and red box with you every day?

I smoked once and it was fantastic. And it's cool, too.

I plan to only smoke for press conferences or publicity appearances from now on though. If I hosted a talk show I would smoke, and make all my guests smoke. and the audience. the audience would smoke.

kahljorn

Those who didn't smoke would be publically executed by means of the lethal-second-hand-smoke chamber.

I don't smoke cigarettes. I hate the taste. I get no excitement from them. Sometimes I smoke beedees, but they taste good. Other smokeable objects also veg in my capitol.

I used to smoke, and I loved it. I would quit for a few months, but then take it up again for whatever reason. When I joined my band a few months ago, I started up again. All five other band members smoked. I got bronchitus(sp?) AGAIN. And since I don't have health insurance, I quit. For good. It just sucks that I come home smelling like it three nights a week. :(

Now I just hate smelling it because I associate smoke with getting sick.

Looking back, I got sick A LOT when I smoked. Bronchitus once or twice a year...

Smoke crack and crystal, it's the safest alternative. You get that sweet chemical taste without the coughing and hacking. It feels so light and fluffy. And it doesn't smell. Problem(s) solved.

I miss cigarettes. I'm not going through withdrawal, but I get the occasional craving. It's not as bad as I thought... It's more of the "idea" of having a cigarette. Driving with the top down, listening to a good Radiohead song and puffing the grit. I miss that so.

Get your own life and leave people to their vices.
Most vices don't invade someone else's life like cigarette smoke does. >:

I have trouble breathing when I'm around people who are smoking for a while. I can stand it for about 10 minutes and then I have to go somewhere else. Either that or lay gasping on the floor.

What about when people smoke around their kids, especially very young children? A few weeks ago at work, a woman came up to the till and asked for a pack of cigarettes while she had her two young daughters with her. As soon as she asked for it, one of the girls asked her why she was going to smoke if the doctor said her sister was allergic to the second-hand smoke. The mother's reply: "Yeah, whatever."

If my boss hadn't been right behind me, I would have told her to fuck herself. >:

I don't understand how one would start smoking if they already know it's hazardous to their health. It's almost like putting your head underneath a lawn mower while trying to figure out why it won't start.

Ok, now this is just fucked up. When I clicked on this thread, an pop up ad for nicorette gum came to the screen. Did anyone else get this?

"In parks. On lots. Public flower beds. In remote places. At City Hall.
Wherever. Whenever. Or start a plantation in your closet (but read up on
it first for that). For casual planting, its best to soak them in water for
a day and plant in a bunch of about 5, about half an inch deep. Don't worry
much about the weather, they know when the weather is wrong and will try to
wait for nature. Don't soak them if its wintertime. Seeds are a very
hearty life form and strongly desire to grow and flourish. But some of them
need people's help to get started. Plant your seeds."

That works best for indoor seeds. The best place to plant the outdoor seeds is nearby a pond in the forrest.

I smoked practically everyday for a few months and then quit... I experienced no withdrawl whatesover. I smoke occasionly because it's relaxing and it's something to keep you occupied while you're taking a break at work. I can't stand smoking now though-- My mouth/throat have nasty taste after i've smoked a few and it doesn't go away for a day or so... fucking nasty.

I could care less if people smoke though, the smell doesn't bother me at all. (I have asthma too)

my dad is extremely anti-smoking, the judgmental-from-hell type. his dad died when my dad was 16, and he blames it on the cigs. everywhere he goes, he's always bitching about the smoke. b&g. constantly.

so, my ex went to pick up our son from my parents' house the other week, and he'd just lit up a cigarette.
"what do you get out of those things?" my dad asked him through the crack in the storm door.
"cancer," my ex told him, as he exhaled right in his face.

it makes me lol. :(

I think indignant smokers are worse than self righteous non-smokers. The worst thing about smoking is that it makes the world look a bit uglier and dirtier. I hate seeing cigarette butts on the ground. It doesn't bother me at bars/concerts where one expects smoking but I hate seeing the sidewalks lined with cigarette butts. Those of you who love to smoke, do what you want but those of you who want to quit, please do take the effort.

Les Waste
Jul 3rd, 2003, 06:59 PM
I don't smoke, mainly because my dad is a smoker and has been trying to quit for as long as I can remember. I don't want to spend over twenty years trying to stop doing something. Also, the whole cancer thing.

But I just stay away from regular tobacco. I smoke way too much of the wacky variety. I spent the past six weeks (since the end of the semester) walking around in a pot-smoke cloud, a la Pig Pen from the Peanuts. Except with smoke instead of dirty and odor. It wouldn't have lasted that long, except I made the Dean's List and thought "all right, let's celebrate!"

:(

Rev. Danno

I feel if you smoke, it is your job to pick up butts, even if not yours...
I carry around an Altoids container to put butts in. I also pick up litter on the street, beach, et cetra.
Just because you have a dirty habit doesn't mean you have to be dirty.

ziggytrix
