I know this was before my time, but have any of you ever seen that 1971 public service announcement with the Amerindian crying a single tear at the sight of people littering? That is such a moving image. I actually got choked up when I saw it.
You can watch the orginal announcement here:
http://www.theresab.com/ironeyes.htm
There is also information about the late Iron Eyes Cody (1901-1999) , who starred in the commericial.
People who litter suck. >:

OMG, I LOVED THAT AD! It was on when I was a kid and I'd be all like YOU FUCKERS MADE THE INDIAN CRY! And then I'd be all, woah, thank God my people got here three generations ago, otherwise I'd feel all guilty and shit.

If I litter in a parking lot, is that a bad thing? I mean, we already destroyed whatever natural ecosystem used to be there, so what if I drop my garbage on the concrete?

Because the wind will blow it somewhere else.
Besides, it just looks gross.

Goat, sheesh it doesnt matter where you litter, its still littering.

classic commercial, that's cool that it's still playing. I find it ironic that Bush is the honorary chair of clean up america, when he could care less about the environment if it cuts into any corporate profits. but i guess beautiful doesnt mean natural or sustainable :/

i'm always picking stuff up, after i saw that commercial when i was a kid i carried a shovel handle with a nail sticking out and had fun stabbing at litter for a while.

and what's that Yard-Man campaign for clean up america?
http://www.kab.org/yardmannyc.cfm pick up the trash and pollute the air? i wonder what the emissions on that thing compare to.. anybody care to guess? i bet they compare to an suv since last i heard there are no emissions regulations for mowers >:

It doesn't really matter if you put it in the bin or not, it's got to go somewhere.

I did the whole 'clean up the world' thing, picking up litter and putting it in the bin, it's only when I saw them dumping about ten truckloads of shit into a canyon that I realised that the point is to use less.

Recycling is the same lie.

However, I will admit that stuff goes down the drain and chokes dolphins and what have you - so it is better to put it in a pile than spread it around.

The main reason though is it just looks gross.

I would like to say that in NO WAY WHATSOEVER is Big Papa Goat related to me. He is NOT my "Big Papa", nor do I swing that way. However, if his name is to pay tribute to me, well, what can I say?

Yes, well, it must be. I mean, goats are of course the underappreciated farm animals of the internet.

You know what gets me? All that land paved over for the highway, the pollution coming out of all them cars (those were the old fashioned gas guzzlers too) and the near extinction of the wildlife.

What makes him cry? The rapper off a big mac hits him.

Storm drains. The biggest problems at the beaches are inlanders who just toss crap in the street, it washes down the drains and runs off onto the beaches. I have to surf in that, and it gets your fellow humans sick from it. Putting it in a pile covered in a landfill is much healthier for us than just putting it in piles in our neighborhoods, unless you live on a toxic dump site of course.

If you watch the commercial you see he passes polluted water and smokestacks. The wrapper is just the final straw that breaks the camel's back.
