VIENNA (Reuters) - A woman lay awake during surgery for 45 minutes, unable to move or call for help, after staff forgot to hook up the machine pumping out anaesthetic, the Austrian daily Kurier reported Monday.

The woman was temporarily paralyzed because she had been given a muscle relaxant, and her ordeal ended only after a replacement doctor who came into the operating room saw tears in her eyes and noticed the machine was not connected properly.

The woman, who was undergoing abdominal surgery, is suing for 70,000 euro ($79,970) in damages, the hospital in the Austrian province of Carinthia confirmed.

WTF >:

I can't say I blame her. I saw a documentary about that happening and the victims end up with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. :(

Well, shit, it's almost like torture, and most folks agree that torture violates basic human rights. I feel sorry for everyone invovled in that terrible accident. What a fuckup! :(

Gaaaah.

I once saw this video recorded at a plastic surgeon's in Belgium. I think he just had to be really cheap or something, because I can't imagine anyone going there for another reason. First he was rudely talking to his female patients and feeling them up, then came the operation (a breast enlargement). He was either using no anaesthetic or far too little, because the women on the table was moaning and crying in pain while he mocked her and cut her open. Yeeeugh.

He wasn't feeling her up, he was testing for firmness and quality! It's an essential part of the plastic surgeries day.
