I just heard a kid on another message board say that Slipknot invented grindcore! >:

Wouldn't happen to have link, would you?

Yes, I would. It's on one of these pages: http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=44397 There is no use in going to correct him now, though: I already did. It's still funny to look at, though.

I like almost every type of metal, but not anything harder than Cradle of Filth (amazing guy singing here, BTW)....

Faves? Iron Maiden (the Rock On guy is a copycat of Piece of Mind's guy in the cover. Eddie, for those of you who know who I tlak about), Blind Guardian, Rhapsody (First album, the rest is not very good, IMHO), Metallica (Haven't listened to St. Anger, but everything by them rocks for sure), Helloween (hope they don't go down anymore, some bad albums recently ), Dream Theater, In Flames, Nightwish... Woah, long list here.

To shorten it: Heavy metal, and Power Metal.

Currently listening to? Oratory, portuguese progressive melodic power metal band, with female singer (she's an angel, what a voice)...

Slipknot a METAL band? Not really, IMHO, they're grindcore (heck! they created grindcore).

Happy posting, i'm glad there's some people who like metal.
OTOH, I also like J. Tull (Thick as a Brick, it's simply amazing!), Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, a bit of Pink Floyd.... Lotsa good music they did on the 60's and 70's....

SlipKnoT is the original, authentic, hardcore, middle of nowhere rock group.

Corey Taylor is one of the top 10 most versatile vocalists in music in all its entirity.

MM and his Spooky Kids are also one hell of a band.

Yeah, that guy who said Corey is one of the best vocalists needs his ass kicked. I told him to listen to Opeth for diverse vocals.

IM SEEING OPETH SOON, with porcipine head. It'll kick ass. Slipknot fans are just a bunch of retarded polacks. Pardon the ethnic slur, but at my school, they are all polish, stupid, and idiots for listening to such utter crap.

"The Dropkick Murphys are real punk"

:lol
That's so great, their new albums are lame ass bullshit, back in the day Dropkick Murphies used to be hardcore racist skinhead type bastards.

Opeth doesn't have diverse vocals. Just two styles alternating. Corey has more range and uses more different styles than Akerfeldt.

I don't like Slipknot, but that was wrong.

Corey doesn't have any range. Whenever he screams, he screams. Whenever he sings, he sings. He alternates between two styles much the same way.

If you're talking about the minor sound changes in each scream, I still say Akerfeldt can do a greater range. It's just that Corey does it much faster.

argh, its fans like that that really piss me off, becasue they give me a bad name. because im stuck likeing slipknot, while half of slipknot's fans have no clue what the fuck they are talking about. Inventing grindcore? please shoot me in the head, they are not grindcore, they are not metal. Im not sure what the fuck they count as, some metal/rock/crappy elctronica hybrid. I still like em mostly becasue i started when i was younger (im only 19 and got into them as soon as they came out) and i was social outcast then, and yeah slipknot speaks to that crowd. Slipknot is more about that then making perfect music, you definately have to be of a certain mindset to really enjoy and feel the music, just liek death metal is not for everyone.

But i still hate 50% of slipknot fans.

Opeth is becoming a trend too. It makes me sad.

CastroMotorOil

as long as the band does not sell out, i don't care if they are popular.

And i define selling out as going against personal principles for the sake of money.

selling your soul to MTV is a different matter...

Jul 9th, 2003, 10:38 AM
kahl I feel that same way. Next thing you know, 13 year olds will be 'rockin' to Psychotic Waltz or something and we'll be embarassed to say we like them :(

kahljorn
Jul 9th, 2003, 11:30 PM
Exactly :(
It's sad when I list a list of listy things I like to list an dpeople are all, "Your list sucked, you like opeth"? And I'm all, "Foon", and they are all, "All those other people you listed I've never heard of, I bet they suck". Then I cry :( :(

Most of those people admit to being hardcore SUPER DEATHMETAL LEET SLIPKNOT fans though, so I usually get a chuckle or a giggle after, maybe a little of both.

I'm not a Slipknot fan, I just like good music and can identify it. Deliverance and Closure kick ass. And The Drapery Falls makes me jizz my pants. I'm a big metal fan, what can I say. Death, Dimmu, Dark Tranquility, Celtic Frost, Blind Gaurdian, Iced Earth, Helloween fucking kick ass.

Anal Cunt is and always will be the greatest grindcore band ever. But then, I only know four or five, so maybe my opinion isn't the best one to take.

Anal Cunts songs all sound the same, exception for "I just saw the gayest guy on earth" and "You're gay"...

crash0814
Jul 12th, 2003, 05:19 AM
Well, true, but they're funny, even though pretty much all their jokes are homophobic, which I'm kind of against, but hey! At least I'm not one of these asshole uptight fucks who thinks they should ban everything that goes against our values.

DecapitatedHate
Jul 12th, 2003, 10:44 PM
haha, it's because of them that I find myself calling everything gay.

Interesting Trivia Question:

Q: What percentage of Anal Cunt song titles contain the word "gay" in them?

A: I have no idea. But I would guess at least 40.

Grindcore, hmm...sounds like something they do in an abbatoir to make bonemeal. Ozzy ought to know about that; he used to work in a slaughterhouse...

And that's "Aloysius" btw.
