I just remembered that they were remaking dotd and now I'm angry >:. Last I heard, they were putting a "gangsta" and a goth girl into the movie.
Does ANYONE think it could be good? Why would anyone think a remake of one of the greatest horror movies ever would be a good idea?

I believe this was talked about a while ago. Could be wrong though.
But yeah, it's pretty much not being handled right. NotLD's remake in 1990 was at least passable as a loyal remake. This one doesn't even have the famous "When there's no more room in Hell, the dead shall walk the earth." quote.
And I may be mistaken, but I read a script review a long time ago. I don't even think this takes place in a mall.

A good movie-making rule of thumb: don't remake what is already perfect. >:

Is it being done sans George Romero?

No romero and I think it's either being directed or written by the writer of scooby doo.
I think the mall thing and the title are the only similarities to the original. There will be none of the original characters or anything. One of my favorite movies butchered to make more money :(

Why can't they just name it something else instead of DotD? Who's going to notice the difference, anyway? There are already too many zombie movies out there.

There are already too many zombie movies out there.
Correction: There can NEVER be enough zombie movies out there. >:

Yeah, I'll have to say 28 Days Later was cool. Just for once I would like to see a zombie movie about a crime fighting zombies or group of highly intellectual zombies just sitting together, sipping tea and having a high brow debate based on the experience of their deaths. It could be anything else besides the random plot you see in zombie films, it's just getting too damn predictable.

I have no problem with zombie movies that are gore fests and predictable, as long as it's still done well. Redneck zombies is a perfect example of it not done well. I hate everything about that movie.

Well, the good news is that Scott Frank (Minority Report, Out of Sight, Get Shorty) is writing and George Romero will be doing the screenplay for the remake. :)
The bad news? James Gunn and Michael Tolkin, the other two writers. Gunn is remembered for writing the screenplay for the crappy Scooby Doo movies and Tolkin wrote for the TV series, Taxi. I wouldn't want those two writing for a zombie flick such as this one. >:

Ah, the remade Dawn of the Dead. I've got one thing to say about it:
WHO FUCKING CARES.
Now excuse me, I'm off to wait for the special edition due at the end of this year.

Who cares? Well I'll tell you, sonny. All fans of the original, classic movie care. ALL THOSE WHO WILL HAVE TO LISTEN TO "omg dude dawn of the dead is so awesome! There's blood!". ALL THOSE WHO HATE STUPID PEOPLE WHO REMAKE CLASSIC MOVIES >:

Anybody who knows what the hell they're talking about will know this is a ripoff. The others just won't care once they see the original, enough said.

You're probably right about the first part, but as for people seeing the original...
A couple years ago I brought it over to my friend's place and his sister (who was about 16 at the time) just mocked it cause of how low budget it looked and everything. Most people in the age group it'll be targeted at have bad taste in movies :(

The only good thing about new movies is that it always gives the original material a reasonable chance to come out on DVD to show how badly the new movie is. And when Anchor Bay brings out the definitive edition of both Dawn and Day, nobody will fucking care about the millions of dollars wasted just as free publicity for the original classic, pretty-boy du jour or not.
